A free taster of the fortnightly magazine Doctor Who Adventures has been made available online.

The sample comprises 11 pages including highlights from the latest edition - issue 344, which is out today - followed by an invitation to try the current and next editions of the magazine free. The taster - which can be accessed by clicking on this link - also has an exclusive competition to win a PS4 plus the Series 7 DVD box set.

Archival footage relating to Doctor Who is among thousands of films now available to view on the British Pathé YouTube channel, after the organisation decided to upload its entire catalogue in high resolution to the video-sharing website.

British Pathé newsreels were once a staple part of going to the cinema, providing people with visual reports and features in the days before television news and, indeed, before many people had TVs. Now its collection of 85,000 films, spanning the years 1896 to 1976, has been released as part of a bid to enable the archive to be seen globally.

Alastair White, the general manager of British Pathé, said of the unprecedented release: German online TV channel Mediakraft has managed the project and is to create new content with British Pathé material. It said:Of particular interest to Doctor Who fans will be the film clip of the 1967/68 Schoolboys' and Girls' Exhibition at Olympia, which at the start briefly shows a Cyberman and Yeti with onlookers, as well as the 1959 film Park Rangers, in which a police box on Wimbledon Common is put to use (1:51). Also in the archive is the 1955 newsreel Waistcoat Club Aka Waistcoats For Women, which includes footage of Jon Pertwee and Jean Marsh, who were married from 1955 to 1960 (0:49 and with Pertwee's brother Michael and Michael's wife Valerie at 1:24), as well as Peter Cushing (1:36). The film states that the Pertwees were founder members of the club in 1953.

More offbeat Doctor Who-related newsreels show a radio-controlled Dalek named Dodger selling university rag mags in Coventry in 1964, and another home-made Dalek plus robot and rocket in the back garden of the Sherlock family home in Horsham, which was filmed in 1967.

Tom Baker celebrates his 80th birthday today and the BBC has simultaneously released a short video in which the actor discusses playing the Doctor and his return last year to the programme.

In it, he says:

In addition, a slightly longer audio-only interview has been made available via BBC Worldwide's Doctor Who site in which Baker says he stayed for so long in the show because it made him so happy: Asked to sum up in one line his Doctor for someone who had never seen him, Baker responds: "One word, I think: Adorable!" and laughs. The Doctor Who-inspired online multiplayer role-playing game Worlds in Time is to cease operation on 28th February 2014.

The game was first announced by the BBC Press Office prior to the San Francisco Game Developers Conference on 24th February 2011. On 17th November 2011, it was announced through a press release that publisher Sega would be collaborating with BBC Worldwide in the production of the game after having acquired Three Rings Design. Since its official release in March 2012, labelled The first-ever Doctor Who online game, it was free to play online for players aged 13 and above (with those between 13 and 15 needing parental permission to participate) meeting the game's terms and conditions.

An announcement email was sent out recently to members stating:
As an additional thank-you to "the loyal players of Worlds in Time for supporting the game through its years of operation", players have been offered a 10% discount code at the BBC Shop.

A video of part of the guest panel session from the BFI's final event of its Doctor Who At 50 season was uploaded to the organisation's YouTube channel today.

Held on Sunday 8th December to mark the Matt Smith era, it featured big-screen showings of The Eleventh Hour and The Name of the Doctor followed by an on-stage interview with Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, Saul Metzstein, and Dan Starkey, conducted by season co-curator Justin Johnson.

BBC America have released a deleted scene from The Time of The Doctor, taking place just before Clara introduces the Doctor to her family.

The BBC have now released a new behind-the-scenes video for The Time of The Doctor, featuring interviews with Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman, James Buller, Sheila Reid, and Elizabeth Rider, Steven Moffat, Daz Parker (stunt performer), Orla Brady, Jack Hollington, and Danny Hargreaves ("provider of chaos and mayhem").

A number of new videos have been published by the BBC for The Time of The Doctor: the first is another in the series of Strax Field Reports - this time talking about the Doctor's regeneration; two are short behind-the-scenes features, one with Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman chatting about the episode and the other with Michael Pickwoad on creating Christmas; and finally a festive greeting from actor Jack Hollington (aka Barnable).

Note: videos can contain spoilers and you should only watch them when you've either seen The Time of The Doctor, or are not worried about potential revelations!
