The BBC have now released an introduction for the forthcoming fourth episode of Doctor Who, The Doctor's Wife, featuring Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, and writer Neil Gaiman:

The Doctor's Wife will premiere on BBC1/BBC1HD at 6:30pm, 14th May in the United Kingdom; then follows on SPACE in Canada at 8:00pm ET, BBC America in the United States at 9:00pm ET, and on ABC1 in Australia at 7:30pm on the 21st May.

The Doctor receives a distress signal from an old friend. Could there really be another living Time Lord out there? Hopes raised, he follows the signal to a junkyard planet sitting upon a mysterious asteroid in a Bubble universe, populated by a very strange family, as the time-travelling drama continues.

The Doctor, Amy and Rory are given the warmest of welcomes by Auntie, Uncle and Nephew. But the beautiful and insane Idris greets them in a more unusual fashion – what is she trying to tell the Doctor? As the Doctor investigates, he unwittingly puts his friends in the gravest danger.

Coming Soon: The Curse of the Black Spot Prequel

Following on from the first "prequel" for The Impossible Astronaut, the BBC have announced the second of their mini-episode preludes, this time providing an introduction to episode three, The Curse of the Black Spot, due to be broadcast on 7th May.

The full prequel will be available from here and the BBC website on 6:45pm Saturday, straight after the conclusion to Day of the Moon.

The Game of Rassilon!

The BBC's Doctor Who website have launched a new quiz, entitled The Game of Rassilon.

Legends tell of a Time Lord challenge that would test the guile, intelligence and fortune of those brave enough to step forward. The challenge was known as The Game of Rassilon.

The Time Lords may be near to extinction and Gallifrey consigned to history, but after centuries in abeyance the game will be soon be resurrected...

The quiz features clips, images, exclusive new footage with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, plus other members of the cast and crew. It is aimed to test the player's knowledge on Doctor Who, with different questions every time, and themed around the episode on television that week (currently The Impossible Astronaut).

The Doctor Who Bar

Doctor Who Bar A group of fans have started a new project based on the social networking and microblogging website, Twitter.

The Doctor Who Bar, which is not a physical bar, is the name of an online group that meets every Saturday at 7pm GMT to watch an episode of Doctor Who and discuss it live on Twitter using #DoctorWhoBar to tag their tweets.

The third meeting takes place this evening from 7pm GMT and the group will be watching fifth Doctor story, Earthshock, having voted for it in an online poll. The winner was announced at 6pm GMT. To join in you need press play on your DVD,VCR or computer at exactly 7.30pm GMT so you can all stay in synchronisation with the other viewers.

Prequel: The Impossible Astronaut

The BBC have made a special video available to introduce the opening two-part story of the new series of Doctor Who, premiering at Easter. Written by Steven Moffat, this short segment (which they have termed a prequel) stars Stuart Milligan (best known as illusionist Adam Klaus in Jonathan Creek), and sets the scene for what the Doctor can expect to encounter during the adventure ...

The Doctor Who website reports that they will be "revealing the latest iconic image for the new series at approximately one minute past midnight on Saturday morning", which will be available to download as a wallpaper. They also report that several exclusive videos featuring the cast and crew discussing the new adventures of the TARDIS crew will be appearing on-site in the lead-up to Easter's broadcast of The Impossible Astronaut.

TARDIS materialises on the Farm!

Players of the Facebook game application Farmville were in for a surprise this week as the TARDIS materialised on the Farm! Developers for the game have just launched a new expansion entitled English Countryside, and one of the gifts players can receive for qualifying for this level is a Police Box to place somewhere on their farm. To be able to receive the Police Box, you need to get 35 neighbours to travel with you. Alternatively you can spend 60 Farm Cash, which you need to buy with real money.

Doctor Who Comics Come to iTunes

IDW Publishing announced at this weekend's Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) that their line of Doctor Who comics will be available worldwide for the iPad, iPhone and other iOS devices through Apple's iTunes effective immediately. They will also be launching the line of comics on the Sony PSP within weeks.
