Double Invasion due in January - Updated

BBC Worldwide have revealed that the classic Doctor Who stories, Invasion of the Dinosaurs and The Android Invasion will both be released in North America on January 10th 2012.

No UK release date has yet been announced, but it is likely the UK release will be early January.

Imelda Staunton in Doctor Who

The Radio Times has revealed that the BAFTA award winning actress, Imelda Staunton, will lend her vocal talents to the 10th episode in the current series, The Girl Who Waited, due for transmission on 10th September.

Staunton will play Voice of Interface in the story alongside Josie Taylor playing Check-in girl and Stephen Bracken-Keogh providing the Voice of Handbots.

Imelda Staunton, is best known for her performance in the 2004 Mike Leigh film, Vera Drake, where she played a working-class woman in London in 1950 who performs illegal abortions. The role won her the BAFTA and Venice Film Festival Award for best actress in a leading role. She was a regular in the Harry Potter film series playing Professor Dolores Jane Umbridge.

The Radio Times has also confirmed that actor Simon Callow will be returning to the series in the final episode of the current series, The Wedding of River Song. Callow last appeared in Doctor Who alongside Ninth Doctor, Christopher Eccleston, in the 2005 story The Unquiet Dead, where he played Charles Dickens. No details of his character in the upcoming story have been released.

End of the Road: UK overnight viewing figures

Torchwood:End of the Road achieved an average audience of 3.5 million viewers on BBC One and BBC One HD, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The figure was slightly up on last week. The main opposition came not from ITV1, which was showing the documentary, 9/11: Day that Changed the World which achieved an average of 5.5 million viewers during its 100 minute slot.

The eighth in the Torchwood series had 15.0% of the audience share and was the 10th most watched programme of the day.

As always the overnight figure is only half the story with the final ratings, which include those who record the programme and watch it within seven days, being released in 10 days time.

Tonight sees the ninth episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day premiering in the United States, with The Gathering being broadcast at 10:00pm ET on Starz; it will be repeated on the channel several times in the following week.

The BBC have released details for Week 38, which includes the synopsis of eleventh episode of the current series of Doctor Who, The God Complex; this is due to be broadcast on BBC1/BBC1HD on Saturday 17th September, with the broadcast time yet to be confirmed.

The TARDIS lands in what looks like an ordinary hotel, as the time-travelling drama continues.

But the walls move, corridors twist and rooms vanish. There is a room for every visitor that contains their deepest, darkest fears. Fears that will kill them.

What lies in the Doctor's room? And when his turn comes, will he welcome death like all the rest?

The episode is written by Toby Whithouse and directed by Steve Hughes.

Meanwhile schedules have been released for the previous week where Doctor Who – The Girl Who Waited, has been scheduled in the heart of primetime at 7.15pm. The episode will follow the 2011 launch show of Strictly Come Dancing.

Day of the Daleks preview: Alister Pearson print

This Sunday (4th) sees a special preview taking place to celebrate the release of Day of the Daleks on DVD, presented by the Doctor Who Appreciation Society with permission from 2|Entertain.

Artist Alister Pearson has produced a new A4 print for the event based on the original artwork designs for the Target novelisation's three covers, by Chris Achilleos, Andrew Skilleter and himself. He'll be at the event to sign prints, proceeds of which are in aid of Help for Heroes; it can also be pre-ordered directly from the DWAS website via their Day of the Daleks event section, and these too will be signed by the artist.

Though the event itself is fully booked, there is an open autograph session at the end of the event at 5:00pm for those who wish to come along to pre-order the DVD on the day and have the cover signed by the guests, Katy Manning (Jo Grant) and Richard Franklin (Mike Yates) - it is also hoped that Scott Fredericks (Boaz) will be able to attend on the day as well. As with the print, a signed DVD can also be pre-ordered from DWAS online before the event takes place.

The Middle Men: Final Ratings

Episode Six of Torchwood: Miracle Day, The Middle Men, had a final official rating of 4.60 million viewers according to figures released by BARB.

The programme was the 18th highest rated on BBC One for the week.

The final result includes those who recorded the programme and watched it within 7 days. It does not include those watching on iPlayer.

Episode Seven, Immortal Sins, had an AI score of 81.
