The BBC has uploaded an exclusive clip from Part Two of The End of Time onto the official website. You are strongly advised not to click on the link if you have not seen Part One as it contains major spoilers from the end of Part One. The clip is only available on the official site in the UK.

David Tennant has spoken of his love for Doctor Who and how it lead him to choose acting for a career. Speaking on Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio Four, to be broadcast Sunday morning, he tells how it was watching Jon Pertwee in the role as a child, that made him want to go into the profession. He also tells of meeting Tom Baker while Baker was playing the fourth Doctor.

Various papers have reported the UK ratings for Christmas day with The Times describing the figures as disappointing for the BBC, while the Guardian concentrated on the BBC's dominance of the chart. The Mirror focused on EastEnders, but describes The End of Time as terrific, while The Star discribed the Christmas audiences for BBC One as huge.

10.0 million people watched the first part of The End of Time on BBC One yesterday, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Doctor Who was the third most-watched programme of the day, behind soap opera EastEnders and sitcom The Royle Family, and achieved a 42.2% share of the total television audience.

Although the raw figure is down on the previous two years, it still makes The End of Time, Part One one of the highest-rating episodes of the series since it returned in 2005. An additional 340,000 viewers watched the programme on the BBC HD channel. If HD figures are added to the BBC One figures then both Doctor Who and The Royle Family got 10.4 million watching.

The day was a triumph for the BBC, with BBC One taking nine of the top ten Christmas Day spots.

On the digital channels Doctor Who Confidential had 0.58 million watching and was the fourth highest multi channel programme of the day.

Final figures, which will include those who record and watch the programme within one week, will be released by BARB in January.

Russell T Davies has told The Guardian how he took Pop Idol as his inspiration for the rebirth of Doctor Who. He tells the paper how he used to go to a friend's house to watch the final with several others. He says "I wanted to do that with drama. If we could have the voice at the beginning of The X Factor introducing each episode I would do it."

In a somewhat different interview, Davies has caused controversy by voicing his concerns about the future of the BBC, should the Conservative Party win the 2010 General Election. Davies told The Mirror he fears the BBC will be dismantled by the Tories and is convinced that a move to freeze the licence fee by the Conservatives will be the beginning of the end for the corporation. "They'll dismantle it slowly. It'll get smaller and smaller until it just supports Radio 4 and some news. I'll come back and fight them at the barricades. I feel a bit like Alan Bennett, who said his favourite things about Britain were the BBC and the NHS." Davies's remarks were picked up by many UK papers, but not it seems in Conservative Central office. When journalist Matt Withers rang their press office for a statement he was told they wouldn't comment on it, because "Mr Davies is a backbench MP and, as such, his opinion isn't necessarily party policy".

Veteran actress June Whitfield has told The Sun of a particular problem she had while recording The End of Time, when the script called for her to goose David Tennant, "Well, he is so thin that it was difficult to find the bottom!" says Whitfield, 84. "But this was in the script, I promise."

Following its ratings success with The Waters of Mars, BBC America is broadcasting nothing but Doctor Who for the first 46 hours of 2010. Almost the entire run of David Tennant episodes will be shown starting with the Christmas Invasion at midnight New Year's Day and going right through to The End of Time Part Two ending at 10pm on 2nd January.

In the run up to The End of Time on Christmas Day, the Doctor Who repeats on BBC Three have been scoring high ratings. Tuesday's showing of The Next Doctor had 0.54 million watching, making it the tenth highest-rated multichannel programme for the day. Wednesday's repeat of Planet of the Dead did even better, with 0.69 million watching and was the second highest-rated multichannel programme of the day. The 7pm slot has no inheritance, being the first programme on BBC Three for the day, meaning the audience steadily rose throughout the episode with 850,000 watching by the end.

Meanwhile the BBC has revealed that Planet of the Dead was the ninth most-watched programme of the year on the BBC iPlayer, with 811,800 requests. Torchwood: Children of Earth Part 1 was thirteenth with 559,800 requests. The top programme was Top Gear. The BBC iPlayer has its second birthday on Christmas Day, and is now available on more than 20 different devices.

Radio Times is marking the end of the Tenth Doctor’s tenure with a souvenir of the David Tennant and Russell T Davies years by releasing a 164-page glossy tribute book complete with episode guides and photos shot exclusively for Radio Times, many never seen before.

The actor Donald Pickering has died at the age of 76.

Donald Pickering was a well known British actor appearing in many classic television, film and radio roles. His television appearances included The Pallisers, The Avengers, The House of Eliott, All Creatures Great and Small, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, Yes, Prime Minister, The Bittas Empire and Executive Stress.

He is best known to Doctor Who fans for his three appearances in the Classic series. He fist played the role of Eyesen in the 1964 story The Keys of Marinus alongside William Hartnell. Eyesen was the Court Prosecutor, who has succeeded in persuading the Three Judges of Millennium to find Ian guilty of murder.

Pickering returned to the series in 1967, this time with Patrick Troughton, playing Captain Blade in The Faceless Ones. Blade was an airplane pilot at Gatwick Airport whose identity was taken over by a Chameleon.

His final appearance in the series was twenty years later in Sylvester McCoy's first story, Time and the Rani. In this story he played Beyus, the leader of the Lakertyan race, who was forced to serve the Rani alongside his daughter.

Donald Pickering died peacefully at home on 19th December 2009.

The Waters of Mars helped BBC America achieve its highest ever rating last Saturday.

In total over 1.1 million watched the three showings of the Doctor Who special on the channel giving it its highest ever prime time rating and making it 13th highest amongst advertising supported cable networks for ages 25-35.

The End of Time airs on BBC America over the next two Saturdays, with Part One at 9pm ET on the 26th followed by Part Two at 8.30 ET on 2nd January.  To mark the importance of the programme to the channel, Doctor Who has taken over the front page of the BBC America website, with video clips and images from the specials.

BBC America has already confirmed that Series One, Matt Smith's first series as the Doctor will air on the channel in the Spring. Previous series have aired first on the Sci-Fi channel, where they got ratings of around 1.5 million.

The British Board of Film Classification has passed a number of extras for the March release of the two William Hartnell stories The Space Museum and The Chase.
