The National Media Museum in Bradford is honouring former Doctor Who script editor and prolific author Terrance Dicks with a career retrospective later this month.

Dicks, whose work on the show stretches back to The Invasion in 1968 and who was script editor throughout the Jon Pertwee era, will be at the museum to discuss his time in TV and work as an author.

The Terrance Dicks: Three Decades in Television and Beyond event takes place on Saturday, November 24.

The museum says the interview will be illustrated with rare photographs from its collection plus clips from shows Dicks has been involved with, such as The Avengers, Moonbase 3, Space: 1999, Jane Eyre, Oliver Twist, Vanity Fair, and Doctor Who.

The discussion will be followed by a screening of his 1980 Doctor Who story State of Decay, from Tom Baker's final season.

The BBC and 2|entertain have released the cover for the upcoming DVD release of the 1979 Tom Baker adventureDestiny of the Daleks. The DVD will be released in the UK on November 26, both individually and as part of the Davros box set. The cover is by Lee Binding. 

Doctor Who has once again been shortlisted for the three main awards in the UK's National Television Awards, those being Most Popular Actor (David Tennant), Most Popular Actress (Freema Agyeman) and Most Popular Drama (Doctor Who).

In the past two years, Doctor Who has gone on to win those three awards, recipients including Christopher Eccleston, Tennant and Billie Piper. Voting is now open online at itv.com/nta.

The Sun is reporting that Fifth Doctor Peter Davison recently experienced a wardrobe issue while returning to the role of the Doctor for the upcoming Children In Need special. The Sun quotes an insider as saying "Peter's not exactly a fatty, but he's filled out a bit after 20 years." The article goes on to report that the costume worn by Sylvester McCoy fit.

It is to be made clear that the BBC have not confirmed ANY of the information currently circulating about the Children in Need special, including the involvement of Davison. Doctor Who Magazinehas reported that if there is any truth to the rumor, they will have full coverage. The Sun reports that the special will air on November 19th.

Sarah Lancashire will feature in the first episode of Doctor Who Series Four alongside David Tennant and new companion Catherine Tate.

The ex-Coronation Street actress will play Miss Foster, described as an "enigmatic and powerful businesswoman".

She told the Press Association: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be in Doctor Who. It's a brilliant episode and I'm looking forward to taking the Time Lord on."

Today's Daily Star reports on a major end-of-season showdown for the Doctor and companions versus an old adversary. The story ties together several other rumours that have been circulating in recent weeks over who/what may be appearing in the 2008 series, but there is no official announcement for the Star's speculation.

The official Doctor Who site has confirmed that the Sontarans, potato-headed monsters from the classic series, will return to Doctor Who in Series Four.

The Sontarans, a militaristic clone race, first appeared opposite the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith in 1973, in The Time Warrior, which has recently been released on DVD in the UK. Sontarans also appeared in The Sontaran Experiment (1975), The Invasion of Time (1978) and The Two Doctors (1985). More recently, the potato-headed monsters were mentioned in "The Eye of the Gorgon, Part 1", an episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures which aired on CBBC on Monday.

In Series Four, the Sontaran leader will be played by Christopher Ryan, best known as Mike in the 1980s comedy series The Young Ones. Ryan appeared as another alien, the Mentor Lord Kiv, in the 1986 story The Trial of a Time Lord: Mindwarp, opposite Sixth Doctor Colin Baker. That story also featured Trevor Laird, who played Martha Jones' father Clive in Series Three.

The official website has released full details for the forthcoming Davros DVD box set, scheduled for release in the UK on November 26, 2007. In the set, Genesis of the Daleks, Resurrection of the Daleks andRevelation of the Daleks will contain the same material as the previously released DVDs of those stories. Destiny of the Daleks will also contain roughly the same material as the separate DVD of the story being released on the same day. However, the box set will contain a two-disc version ofRemembrance of the Daleks, with the following extras:

• Commentary with actors Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred
  
• Back to School - Cast and crew talk about the making of the story accompanied by rare behind-the-scenes material
  
• Remembrances - Cast and crew talk about the influences and references to other Doctor Who adventures that are spread throughout the story

The documentaries "Back to School" and "Remembrances" are new, and are not found on the previously released single DVD version of Remembrance of the Daleks. The original Region 2 DVD of Remembrance also had a few missing effects shots, which will be restored in the box set version.

The set will also include a new documentary on the character and history of Davros, titled "Davros Connections".

Finally, the box set will contain eight audio dramas from Big Finish Productions starring Terry Molloy as Davros. The stories are Davros(starring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor), The Juggernauts (also starring Colin Baker), Terror Firma (starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor), the four parts of the miniseries I, Davros, and a new audio drama,The Davros Mission, written by Nicholas Briggs. The BBC site describes this new story, specially commissioned for the DVD box set, thus: "Davros is taken by the Daleks for trial and imminent execution. But even in his darkest hour, he finds allies and an insatiable cunning to survive..."

Only 10,000 of the individually numbered box sets will be issued.

The official Doctor Who website has released some information about an upcoming story in Series Four. The story will be set in Pompeii in AD 79, just before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. In this episode the Doctor and Donna are faced with a moral dilemma: should they warn the residents of the impending disaster and change the course of history, or let history take its course?

Guest stars in the episode will include Academy Award and BAFTA winner Peter Capaldi ("The Thick of It") as Caecillius, Tracey Childs ("Howards' Way") as Metella, and Phil Davis ("Quadrophenia") as Lucius; Davis also appeared with Eighth Doctor Paul McGann in the film Alien³.

As previously reported, filming for the Pompeii episode took place at Rome's Cinecitta Studios.

This is not the first Doctor Who story set in the last days of Pompeii; the Big Finish Productions audio dramaThe Fires of Vulcan, starring Sylvester McCoy and Bonnie Langford as the Seventh Doctor and Mel, was set in the same time and place. It is not known whether the forthcoming television story is adapted from the audio play. In the 2005 series, the Big Finish play Jubilee was adapted into the television episode Dalek; elements of Spare Parts inspired 2006's Rise of the Cybermen and The Age of Steel; and for the 2007 series, Paul Cornell adapted his novelHuman Nature for television.
