The BBC have announced that Rebecca Front is to appear in Doctor Who, featuring in the story currently being filmed for the next series, due to air this Autumn.

The actress will be re-united with Peter Capaldi, with whom she co-starred in the political satire comedy The Thick Of It - and for which both won BAFTA awards in 2010 for best Male/Female performance in a comedy role.

As previously reported the episode, written by Peter Harness and directed by Daniel Nettheim, features the return of the Zygons and of UNIT, with both Jemma Redgrave and Ingrid Oliver reprising their roles of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart and Osgood respectively.

The BBC has announced the return of UNIT scientist Osgood, played by Ingrid Oliver, who will appear in the upcoming series of Doctor Who.

Much to the distress of her many fans, Osgood was killed by Missy in the series eight finale Death in Heaven, with showrunner Steven Moffat asserting her death was necessary to emphasise the immorality and ruthless nature of the Master.

However in science fiction, anything is possible, and Osgood will return in episodes currently being filmed in Cardiff.

Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, said, Speaking on set, Ingrid Oliver commented on her reappearance Osgood will return in a two part story written by Peter Harness, who wrote last year's episode Kill the Moon, which will also feature the return of the Zygons. First seen in the 1975 story, Terror of the Zygons, the shape shifting monsters made an appearance, along with Osgood, in the 2013 50th Anniversary story The Day of The Doctor/

Also joining Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and confirmed for guest roles in the double episode is Jemma Redgrave, Jaye Griffiths, Cleopatra Dickens, Sasha Dickens, Abhishek Singh, Todd Kramer, Jill Winternitz, Nicholas Asbury, Jack Parker and Aidan Cook.

Doctor Who series nine will be back on BBC One in Autumn 2015 and further guest cast will be released over the coming months.

The BBC has confirmed Jemma Redgrave will be back in Series Nine of Doctor Who, reprising the role of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.

A video released by the Corperation reveals that the Brigadier's daughter will return in Episodes 7 and 8 of the upcoming series, which will shortly begin filming in Cardiff.


The character was first seen in the 2012 story The Power Of Three, before appearing in The Day of The Doctor and Death in Heaven.

David Schofield has been signed up to appear in the next series of Doctor Who.

Schofield is best known for playing King Alined in the BBC fantasy drama series Merlin. Other TV appearances include roles in Footballers' Wives, Holby City, Jekyll & Hyde and, most recently, as Police Sergeant Foley in Hugo Blick's The Shadow Line for BBC Two. Big Screen appearances include roles in An American Werewolf In London, The Last of the Mohicans, Anna Karenina and Gladiator as well as playing as Mr. Mercer in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Doctor Who Magazine reveals that Schofield will appear in episodes five and six of the new series, currently being filmed in Cardiff.

As reported last month, the episodes also feature Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams as well as comic Rufus Hound. The BBC have released a video of Hound at the script read through.

Showrunner Steven Moffat hinted to DWM that the role played by Williams is particularly significant saying she would "challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways".

The BBC have published a video from Doctor Who's producer Derek Ritchie providing a brief update on production of the series.
