Doctor Who Insider ceases publication

The North American magazine Doctor Who Insider has ceased publication, with Issue 9 being the last to be produced.

Kirsty Syson from Panini Email Customer Services said:
I am sorry to advise you that Dr Who Insider has ceased publication effective from Issue 9. Please be assured letters are on the way to our subscribers explaining this matter and offering either a refund or transfer to Dr Who magazine. Once again I apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused in this matter.
The magazine was launched by Panini last year to complement Doctor Who Magazine, focussing on Doctor Who in the USA and Canada in collaboration with BBC Worldwide and BBC America.

BBC America Confirm Christmas Schedule

BBC America have confirmed that the 2011 Christmas Special, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe will Premier on the channel Christmas Day at 9pm ET.

The episode has already been confirmed for transmission in the UK on Christmas Day at 7pm and for transmission in Australia on Boxing Day.

People's Choice Awards 2012

People's Choice have launched their 2012 Awards, and Doctor Who has been nominated in the Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show category.

The show is up against a wealth of US and Canadian produced series, including the remake of Being Human; other popular shows in the category include Fringe, True Blood, The Walking Dead, Supernatural and Game of Thrones.

Matt Smith wins Best Sci-Fi Actor at the Scream Awards

Doctor Who Ratings Matt Smith has won the Best Science Fiction Actor award at the 2011 Spike Scream Awards. He was up against tough competition from Daniel Craig (Cowboys & Aliens), Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger), Harrison Ford (Cowboys & Aliens) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Source Code).

Doctor Who lost the Best TV Show category to Game of Thrones while Karen Gillan lost out to Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil: Afterlife) in the Best Science Fiction Actress category.

The awards show took place at the Universal Lot in Los Angeles, California on 15th October. The two hour event will broadcast on Tuesday, October 18 at 9/8c PM, ET/PT on Spike TV.

The seventh edition of Doctor Who Insider will be available in North America from 6th October.

This month Ian McNeice reveals his delight at being part of the extended Doctor Who family, following his return to Doctor Who as Winston Churchill in The Wedding of River Song.
I did a lot of research that included going to various locations and hearing a lot of his tapes which have all his speeches on it so that I could get some of his cadences together.

The Blood Line : Overnight Viewing Figures

The final episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day, The Blood Line achieved an average audience of 3.9 million viewers on BBC One and BBC One HD, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The episode had 17.1% of the audience share and was the 9th most watched programme of the day.

The programme faced strong opposition from Billy Connolly's Route 66, which had 5.4 million watching and which won the timeslot.

Final ratings, which include those who record the programme and watch it within seven days,will be released next week.


The broadcast of the episode on Starz on 9th September achieved a total of 950,000 viewers over its premiere evening, with 640,000 watching at 10:00pm and 310,000 for the 11:00pm repeat.

With the figures of the finale in the United States now in, here is a round-up of how Miracle Day has fared over its ten week run thus far:

Doctor Who has been nominated for 'Best TV Show' while Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are up for 'Best Science Fiction Actor' and 'Best Science Fiction Actress' for their roles as the eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond.
