Against stiff competition from the commercial networks, Listen averaged 661,000 in the five major

Australian capital cities and was the twelfth highest rating program of the day overall in the big cities (these figures do not include regional and rural viewers or time shifted viewers). It was the second highest rating drama of the day (after ANZAC Girls). For the first time this series, Doctor Who also slipped outside the top ten national programs as well (which includes the five major capitals and regional and rural viewers).

Germany: FOX to broadcast German dub of Series 8 in November

FOX Deutschland has announced today on Facebook that they are going to broadcast Series 8 dubbed into German from November 15th. They will show two episodes every Saturday at 7.15 pm.

As previously reported FOX was forced to change their plans at the last minute, transmitting Deep Breath and every episode since in english instead of german, after BBC Worldwide failed to deliver the material needed for the dub in time. BBC Worldwide issued an apology but were unable to state when they were willing to deliver the material needed.

Time Heist - Press Details

The BBC have released details of the fifth episode of the upcoming series of Doctor Who Time Heist.

The episode has been confirmed for transmission on BBC One on Saturday 20th September at 7.30pm

The Doctor turns bank robber when he is given a task he cannot refuse - to steal from the most dangerous bank in the cosmos.

With the help of a beautiful shape-shifter and cyber-augmented gamer, the Doctor and Clara must fight their way past deadly security and come face to face with the fearsome Teller: a creature of terrifying power that can detect guilt.

The episode will follow Pointless Celebrities, the quiz show based on guessing the least likely answer, and will be followed by The National Lottery: In It to Win It. Against the Doctor ITV will once more offer a celebrity edition of the quiz show The Chase and the next edition of The X Factor.

More Who on Horror

The Horror Channel has announced an additional seventeen Doctor Who stories are to be added to its line-up from October:

Following the success of the Who On Horror season, that saw 30 classic Doctor Who stories broadcast on Horror Channel, BBC Worldwide and Horror Channel have agreed to an additional set of 17 re-mastered episodes, starting on Monday 13th October.

For the first time on UK television, Horror Channel viewers will be able to watch re-mastered episodes that were only released on DVD by BBC Worldwide last year. There will be more from the Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee eras with additional stories featuring Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.

The iconic adventures continue with the Doctor Who and The Silurians serial, starring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor and his roadster, Bessie. The series then leads into weekday double-bills in daytime and evening slots.

Available to watch from October are such stories as Inferno, Carnival of Monsters, The Time Warrior, The Sontaran Experiment, The Sun Makers, and The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.

Alina Florea, Director of Programming for Horror Channel, said:

It's been great to be able to offer our regular fans the classic Doctor Who content, but it’s equally exciting to see Time Lord devotees flock to Horror Channel in greater number and take part in the various on and off air activities that resulted in a surge in viewership and social media interaction. With the newer batch of re-mastered episodes, there will be even more reasons for our viewers to tune in and stick around for more fright, thrill and shock.

Robot Of Sherwood to be edited

The BBC have taken the decision to edit a brief scene from Robot of Sherwood when broadcast on BBC One this Saturday:

In light of recent news events, we have made an edit to episode three out of respect.

It is unknown at present whether the edit will be undertaken in other broadcasts around the world, or if this may impact the DVD/Blu-ray release of the episode in the future.

Update: BBC Worldwide for Australia and New Zealand have confirmed that both ABC and PRIME will be broadcasting the edited version of the episode.

The scene has been reported to feature a beheading of a character during the episode, which in light of the murder of journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff has been considered inappropriate for this broadcast.

This episode isn't the only one this series to have received the editing treatment. The South China Morning Post has reported that series premiere Deep Breath was edited for its broadcast on BBC Entertainment in the Asia-Pacific region in order to ensure it met with broadcasting standards of all countries served by the channel regarding the depiction of same-sex relationships - with the moment where Vastra kisses Jenny to enable her to breathe being removed in this case.

The BBC have released details of the fourth episode of the upcoming series of Doctor Who Listen.

The episode will show on BBC One on Saturday 13th September. No transmission time has yet been set.

When ghosts of past and future crowd into their lives, the Doctor and Clara are thrown into an adventure that takes them to the very end of the universe.

What happens when the Doctor is alone? And what scares the grand old man of Time and Space?

Updated: Overnight Australian ratings for Deep Breath and Australian simulcasts

Deep Breath averaged 1.187 million national viewers in Australia (these figures include the five major capital cities and regional and rural viewers). It was the highest rating drama of the day and the eighth highest rating program of the day overall. Excluding regional and rural viewers, Peter Capaldi's debut averaged 710,000 viewers in the five major Australian capital cities and was the ninth highest rating program of the day overall in the big cities (the second highest rating drama in the cities after ANZAC Girls). The 4.50am broadcast simulcast with the UK also averaged an impressive 260,000 national viewers. These rating do not include time shifted viewers.

Update: The ABC has also confirmed that it will continue to simulcast Doctor Who with the UK for the remainder of series eight, and will also continue to make each episode available on its iview player from Sunday morning.
