It's a week today since Series 5 (or Series 1 or Series 31, depending on which counting system you subscribe to) ended in the UK, yet it seems only yesterday that we were all eagerly anticipating Matt Smith and Steven Moffat's first season of Doctor Who.

Viewers in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere still have the anticipation of what's to come (assuming you haven't seen the episodes over the Internet already and, assuming you haven't spoilered yourself with the deluge of articles appearing everywhere!).

And a lot's happened in the seven days since the end of The Big Bang in the UK, when we found out that the crack in time ... oops, spoilers!

But - be warned! - a hefty dose of salt may be needed before reading some of what follows ...

Matt joined Orbital on stage at Glastonbury for "Dr Who", their rendition of the show's theme tune. Meanwhile, he had to put up with a lot of nonsense from the British tabloid press concerning so-called "falling ratings" - which doesn't actually appear to stand up to much scrutiny - and William Hill slashing the odds on him remaining on the show.

Then, apparently, Moffat's script for the 2010 Christmas Special went missing and several of the writers for next year were announced (see Digital Spy).

On a positive note, as we reported on Wednesday, Barbara Kidd, who previously worked on Who episodes involving Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker and Peter Davison, is returning to the show for the 2011 series.

The monster line up for the Doctor Who Live tour details were confirmed and Neil Gaiman Tweeted that he'd completed his Who script.

And, then there are the "facts" that Matt wants both Eric Cantona and Ian McKellen to appear in the show as baddies! See this article for more details.

Last, but not least, is the revelation that Johnny Depp has "definitely" signed up to play the Doctor in a big-budget Hollywood movie, written by Russell T Davies and featuring the Daleks and the Ebola virus! The BBC subsequently clarified otherwise.

There are masses of stories relating to this rumour, but this one on Digital Journal at least takes a more sober and detailed look, including on the history of Doctor Who movies, proposed and actual.

2entertain have announced on their offical Twitter feed that the two stories Kinda and Snakedance are to be released during 2011, in a boxed set entitled Mara Tales. The company have released a Next Time Trailer for the set, which also features a glimpse of new CGI for the Mara's manifestation as a snake.

The trailer will appear on a future, currently unspecified Doctor Who release.

The final story to be included in the forthcoming DVD Revisitations Box Set will be Peter Davison's swan song as the fifth Doctor, The Caves of Androzani.

The story, first shown in 1984, is one of the highest regarded in Doctor Who's history and was recently voted as best story by the readers of Doctor Who Magazine. The story features Nicola Bryant as Peri, John Normington as Morgus, Robert Glenister as Slateen, Christopher Gable as Sharaz Jek and Maurice Roeve as Stotz.

The story was one of the first released on DVD in June 2001. The updated version will contain new behind the scenes features. The set will also contain the 1977 Tom Baker story The Talons of Weng Chiang and the 1996 Paul McGann  TV Movie,

The set will be released in the UK later this year.

During an interview on the Alan Titchmarsh Show this afternoon, former Doctor Peter Davison was asked about a possible reunion with all the remaining Doctors:

Davison - who was on the show to promote his current show Legally Blonde - was also a little bemused by a clip of Mawdryn Undead being used as an introduction for him, citing that Titchmarsh has a habit of showing clips of him that are older than the previous one each time he appears on the programme!

In addition to the previously reported DVD extras for Enlightenment, the BBFC has classified DVD extras forMawdryn Undead and Terminus. The three stories, starring Fifth Doctor Peter Davison, are listed as part of The Guardian Trilogy box set. The extras indicate that there will be an option to view these stories with new CGI effects.

There is no information as to when the boxed set may be released.

The BBC has confirmed that the 1978 Tom Baker story The Invasion of Time is due for release in the UK on 5th May 2008. The release is being timed to coincide with the appearance of the Sontarans in Series Four. Extras on the disc include a commentary with actors Louise Jameson andJohn Leeson, the script editor Anthony Read and visual effects designer Matt Irvine.

As previously announced a number of documentaries are included. Out of Time is a look at the making of the story, The Changing face of Gallifrey, asks how the portrayal of the Time Lords has changed over the years, The Elusive David Agnew investigates the mysterious writer of the story andDeleted Scenes has previously cut scenes from the film inserts in Episodes five and six.

May will also see the release of a box set entitled Bred for War. This will include the new release of The Invasion of Time along with the previously released Sontaran stories, The Time Warrior, The Sontaran Experiment and The Two Doctors. The box set will contain no additional extras.

As previously announced the release date of the Peter Davison story, Black Orchid, will be the 14th April 2008. The Restoration Team website now has an article on this story. It confirms the commentary team of Peter Davison,Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton and Matthew Waterhouse.

Stories in preparation but unscheduled include The Brain of Morbius and The Trial of a TimeLord as well as a double issue entitled K9 Tales, comprising of the 1977 story The Invisible Enemy and the 1981 special K-9 and Company.

It has been confirmed that the Peter Davison story Black Orchid will be released in the UK on 14th April 2008.

The Den of Geek website has published interviews with Peter Davison, Louise Jameson and Sophie Aldred.

In the individual pieces, Davison talks about wobbly sets, Time Crash, typecasting, and his opinion on the worst Doctor Who monster ever, Jameson chats about working with Tom Baker, why she turned down returning to play Leela on TV, her view on her character now, and meeting David Tennant, while Aldred discusses working with John Nathan-Turner, along with her career spanning the pre- and post-Who days.

Georgia Moffett, daughter of Fifth Doctor Peter Davison, will be appearing in Series Four, according to Executive Producer Phil Collinson.

"Fans might recognise that name...but that's not why we cast her. She's a very fine actor."

Georgia originally auditioned for a role in the Agatha Christie episode. "But as soon as we saw her," Collinson told Doctor Who Magazine, "we realised there was a much bigger and better part later on in the series...so Georgia kindly waited until the time was right. It's a role no one will ever forget!"
