Last week's Doctor Who story, The Girl Who Waited, had a final consolidated rating of 7.60 million viewers with a share of 30.8% of the audience.

Consolidated figures include those who record and watch the programme within seven days. The final rating is much more accurate than the initial overnight figure and is based on the actual broadcast time of the programme, rather than its scheduled time.

BBC One's highest performing programme of the night was the launch of Strictly Come Dancing, with 8.31 million viewers

A chart position will be released later this week when final figures from the whole week are available.

The God Complex: Overnight Viewing Figures

5.2 million watched Doctor Who: The God Complex on Saturday according to unofficial overnight figures.

The the programme was down on last week and had an audience share of 23.8%. It was the third highest rated show of the day.

Doctor Who was just behind All Star Family Fortunes on ITV1, which achieved an average of 5.3 million viewers. The celebrity quiz show was helped by the build up to The X Factor which boosted its audience in the last half hour to bring the average just ahead of Doctor Who, although the Time Lord will almost certainly gain back the lead when final figures are released next week.

Doctor Who's lead in Celebrity MasterChef had an average of 2.7 million viewers and the winner on the night was once more The X Factor, which had 10.8 million watching.

With one day to come Doctor Who is the 23rd most watched programme of the week.

On BBC Three, Doctor Who Confidential had an overnight audience of 0.52 million.

The Girl Who Waited: Australian ratings

The Girl Who Waited has debuted in Australia to respectable ratings. TV Tonight reports that, up against the football finals on the commercial stations, the episode averaged 513,000 viewers in the five major capital cities. It was the top rating drama and the seventh highest rating programme for the day overall (after the major news bulletins, the football finals and the Australia-Ireland Rugby World Cup match). The corresponding Confidential Cutdown rated 324,000 viewers in the five major capitals. These overnight figures, however, do not include regional, rural and time-shifted viewers and hence significantly understate the actual national ratings.

The Blood Line : Overnight Viewing Figures

The final episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day, The Blood Line achieved an average audience of 3.9 million viewers on BBC One and BBC One HD, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The episode had 17.1% of the audience share and was the 9th most watched programme of the day.

The programme faced strong opposition from Billy Connolly's Route 66, which had 5.4 million watching and which won the timeslot.

Final ratings, which include those who record the programme and watch it within seven days,will be released next week.


The broadcast of the episode on Starz on 9th September achieved a total of 950,000 viewers over its premiere evening, with 640,000 watching at 10:00pm and 310,000 for the 11:00pm repeat.

The second half of the 2011 series of Doctor Who premiered on Prime TV on Thursday evening with Let's Kill Hitler receiving 117,110 viewers according to unofficial overnight figures.

The first episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day also premiered on Prime at the beginning of this month with 119,440 viewers while Episode 2 dropped to 58,550 and Episode 3 slightly increased to 73,910 viewers.

Prime Evening News was the most watched programme of the day on Prime for the 1st, 8th and 15th of September.

Doctor Who Ratings
Figures released by BARB show Doctor Who: Night Terrors, was the 19th most watched programme of the week.

The episode was the 7th most watched programme on BBC Television.

ITV1's HD ratings helped Red and Black edge slightly ahead of Doctor Who, although Doctor Who outrated the game show for the period the programmes were in direct opposition

The figures do not include those watching on iPlayer.



Meanwhile episode eight of Torchwood, End of the Road had a final UK rating of 4.64 million viewers. It was the 39th most watched programme of the week.

The AI score for Episode Nine of Torchwood, The Gathering, was 85.

The Girl Who Waited: Appreciation Index

Doctor Who: The Girl Who Waited had an Appreciation Index, or AI score of 85.

The AI is a measure of how much the audience enjoyed the episode. The score puts the programme just inside the excellent category.

The score was the second highest on either of the main two channels for Saturday evening, with the Last Night of the Proms scoring highest.

With overnight figures now available for the whole week, Doctor Who finished 21st in the overnight charts. It should finish well within the top twenty when official ratings are issued next week.

6.0 million watched Doctor Who: The Girl Who Waited on Saturday according to unofficial overnight figures.

The the programme was up slightly on last week and with an audience share of 26.8% was the third highest rated show of the day.

Against Doctor Who, the Ant and Dec Game show, Red and Black, achieved just 4.6 million viewers, far below the aspirations ITV1 had for the show and 2 million down on the previous week.. Winner on the night was The X Factor which had 10.6 million watching. The launch of Strictly Come Dancing had an audience of 7.6 million viewers.

With one day to come Doctor Who is the eighteenth most watched programme of the week.

Doctor Who Confidential had an audience on BBC Three of 0.47 million viewers.

Official figures will be released next week by BARB with a place in the top ten perfectly possible.
