Bonhams' latest entertainment memorabilia sale will once again include items from Doctor Who, with Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures also featuring.

The sale - taking place at the showroom in Montpelier Street, Knightsbridge, London, on Wednesday 25th June from midday - consists of some 367 items, with lots 94 to 121 being of particular interest to DW, TW and SJA fans.

They include an original rehearsal script for The War Machines episode 2 (which is given the story title Doctor Who and the War of the Machines on the front page) as well as sets of draft and rehearsal scripts for all six episodes of The Abominable Snowmen and a set of four camera scripts for The Time Warrior, plus a screen-used panama hat signed by Sylvester McCoy. Items from The Sarah Jane Adventures include the costume worn by Elisabeth Sladen for Invasion of the Bane and her wedding dress from The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith, while the Torchwood lots include costumes worn by Eve Myles.

The BBC have confirmed that the next series of Doctor Who will have its premiere in the United Kingdom during August 2014.


No day has been specified as yet, though previous series have been known to air from Bank Holiday weekends.

Horror Channel's Who on Horror schedule in the UK has been released with classic Doctor Who episodes airing from Good Friday. The run will commence with the very first episode of Who in its original four parts on the Friday at 7pm before the Who on Horror themed weekend featuring stories from each of the first seven Doctors begins.


After the special weekend, episodes settle into a weekday showing from Monday after, with a story each from the First, Second and Third Doctor for the rest of April.

Idents and commercials have been created depicting the cell animation advertised while billboards and posters promoting the campaign have been seen in London.


The arrival of Doctor Who on the Horror Channel reflects the science-fiction, action and fantasy genres seen on the channel's available line-up, including Xena: Warrior Princess, Wonder Woman and The Twilight Zone.

Director of Programming Alina Florea commented on the latest signing in a press release:
A special press launch took place yesterday at The Ivy in Leicester Square in the presence of the Fourth Doctor himself, Tom Baker. Doctor Who News was invited to the launch and a report of the day will be available soon.

The actor, writer and comedian Toby Hadoke is to give the last performance of My Stepson Stole My Sonic Screwdriver for the foreseeable future next month, he has announced.

The show, which is as highly acclaimed as its antecedent Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf, will be staged on Monday 19th May at 7.30pm at Bollington Arts Centre, Wellington Road, Bollington, Cheshire, as part of the Bollington Festival.
Hadoke, who writes for Doctor Who Magazine and has been a moderator on classic Doctor Who DVDs, also said that work is under way on a DVD release of Moths and Stepson, both of which were filmed when he performed them as a double bill at the Garrick Theatre in the West End on 17th November last year. A release date is yet to be announced.

BBC America's A Farewell to Matt Smith special is to air on UK television on digital channel Watch this Easter.

The programme, initially broadcast on the US network celebrating the 11th Doctor actor's time on Doctor Who, will be shown in the UK on Good Friday at 5:00pm.

Narrated by Alex Kingston, it sees contributions from her, David Tennant, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, Jenna Coleman and Steven Moffat alongside fans of Matt Smith and his incarnation of the Time Lord.

As part of the run-up, Radio Times have released a two-minute preview clip concerning the actor's relationship with his fans.

An audience of 1.54 million viewers watched the special on its original transmission before The Time of the Doctor's airing, more recently included as an extra on Time's DVD/Blu-rays.

The new police box in Boscombe was officially revealed to the public today in front of a large enthusiastic crowd.

Dorset Police Band entertained onlookers beforehand and then it was time for Bournemouth East MP Tobias Ellwood to deliver a speech before unveiling the steel-framed construction, which is based on the iconic 1929 design created by Gilbert Mackenzie Trench for the Metropolitan Police and subsequently used in Doctor Who.

Clouds of dry ice poured out of the box as it was opened.

Former Bournemouth AFC forward Steve Fletcher was among those present, as were Inspector Chris Weeks and Sgt Chris Amey, who both have responsibilities for the area and have previously spoken about the policing and tourism benefits of having the box. Also there was Dorset Police Federation chairman Tony Tester who, as he set off for the event, tweeted: "Off to the launch of the new police box this morning by car not time travel."

With just one day to go before the TARDIS-style police box is officially opened in Boscombe, Dorset Police has tweeted an image showing it on the back of a flatbed lorry, as shown below.

The picture is undated but, as previously reported, the steel-framed box was placed into position at the western end of the precinct in Christchurch Road last Thursday.

The box will be opened tomorrow at 11.30am by Bournemouth East MP Tobias Ellwood, with a family fun day to follow. Dorset Police hopes that as well as serving policing purposes it will become an iconic landmark, attracting tourists.

The BBC and ITV have told Doctor Who News that they intend covering the opening in their local news bulletins, subject to last-minute changes to their news diaries. For those able to receive them, BBC One's South Today programme broadcasts tomorrow at 1.30pm, 6.30pm and 10.25pm, while Meridian News will be going out at 1.55pm, 6pm and 10.30pm.

As previously reported, and since updated with more pictures, the TARDIS-style box, which it is hoped will become an iconic landmark and create tourism opportunities as well as serving policing purposes, will be officially opened on Tuesday 8th April at 11.30am, but tomorrow - Thursday 3rd April - a crane will be used to move the steel-framed box into hoardings at the western end of Boscombe precinct in Christchurch Road so that final external and internal fittings can take place.

Also today, Dorset Police said that the box would be opened by Bournemouth East MP Tobias Ellwood and tweeted a picture of it showing it with its phone in place, as seen here. The phone will be available for use by members of the public to contact Dorset Police when the box isn't staffed.

UPDATE - 3rd APRIL: Dorset Police tweeted a picture today of the delicate manoeuvre that took place early in the morning to move the police box into position.

The TARDIS-type police box specially made for Bournemouth is to be opened on Tuesday 8th April, Dorset Police has announced.

The steel box is to be installed at the western end of Boscombe precinct in Christchurch Road, with the official opening ceremony taking place at 11.30am in front of local dignitaries plus businessmen and women as well as the community.

Sgt Chris Amey, Boscombe Partnership and Regeneration officer, said: The opening will be followed by a family fun day between midday and 4pm, to be held at the precinct marquee and led by Creative Kids, with free activities and entertainment organised, including a bouncy castle, face painting, music and games.

It has not been announced who will perform the opening honours.

The design - by James Roberts of Christchurch-based architect and design practice Anders Roberts Cheer - has been based on the iconic 1929 version created for the Metropolitan Police by Gilbert Mackenzie Trench. The box has been built by AMK Industries, also of Christchurch, and been funded by local firms and organisations via donations or services, either free or at a significantly reduced cost. The new box will be regularly staffed during the day by police officers and police community support officers, who will offer help, advice and support to members of the public. A phone will be attached to the police box for people to use to contact the police at other times.

Dorset Police says that as well as serving an important policing purpose it is hoped that the police box will become an iconic landmark, creating tourism opportunities.

Arthur Darvill has taken over the role of Guy in the West End production of Once the Musical.

The actor, who played Rory Williams in Doctor Who, took over the role on Monday when the production celebrated its first birthday in London's Phoenix Theatre. Darvill previously played the role on Broadway and will stay with the London production until 10th May.

Once the Musical is based on the 2006 film of the same name, written by Enda Walsh. It includes many of the songs, including the Academy Award-winning Falling Slowly performed by Darvill in the play. It tells the story of an Irish busker and a Czech girl who meet through a shared love of music. The original production won 8 Tony Awards in 2012 and the London one has been nominated for six Olivier Awards.

Doctor Who News was invited to a special preview on Wednesday afternoon when Darvill and the company performed a number of songs from the musical.
