Big Finish have announced the release of three new stories in their ongoing series of adventures for the Doctor: Energy of the Daleks - the fourth story in the audio series starring Tom Baker and Louise Jameson - sees the Doctor pitted against a familiar foe, one Leela is about to meet for the first time; The Emerald Tiger sees the Fifth Doctor, Tegan, Nyssa and Turlough together again for a new 'mini-season', kicking off with a visit to Calcutta; and William Russell reprises his role as Ian Chesteron for the latest Companion Chronicle, The Wanderer, as the original TARDIS crew journeys to 19th Century Siberia ...

All three stories are available on CD, and for download from the Big Finish website.

This weekend sees recording begin on a special adventure for the Seventh Doctor and Ace, as played by Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred; the two are joined by Lisa Bowerman, who reprises her character Professor Bernice Summerfield in her first ever adventure, Love and War!

Originally written as a novel by Paul Cornell in 1992 as part of Virgin's New Adventures range, this adaptation is by Jacqueline Rayner and is being recorded to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the character, whose own association with Big Finish can be traced back to their premier release in 1998 of Oh No It Isn't! (also by Cornell).

Love and War is due to be released on its anniversary in October.

The first Big Finish titles starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor have been released.

Destination: Nerva is a two-part story by Nicholas Briggs in which the Doctor and Leela (Louise Jameson) travel to the distant future and face a new enemy in a familiar place. Raquel Cassidy guest-stars as Dr Alison Foster and Tim Bentinck plays Giles Moreau.

The first ten minutes of Destination: Nerva can be heard for free via the Big Finish website.


Also available is Doctor Who: The Lost Stories – The Fourth Doctor Box Set, a six-disc collection of two adventures previously devised for the small screen in the 1970s and now finally made on audio.

In The Foe From the Future by Robert Banks Stewart, the Doctor and Leela face ghostly apparitions and an evil enemy in a Devon village, while The Valley of Death by Philip Hinchcliffe sees the travellers join an expedition to the Amazon jungle and uncover the secret of a lost city of gold. Guest stars in the box set include Paul Freeman, Louise Brealey and Anthony Howell.

Big Finish have announced that the Doctor is to meet up with his old acquaintances Henry Gordon Jago and Professor George Litefoot!

The company has confirmed that Christopher Benjamin and Trevor Baxter will once again reprise the Victorian investigative duo alongside Tom Baker as The Doctor and Mary Tamm as Romana in The Justice of Jalxar.

The adventure is written by John Dorney and will form part of the second season of The Fourth Doctor Adventures, to be released in 2013.


Meanwhile, Season One of The Fourth Doctor Adventures begins next month with Destination: Nerva, featuring Louise Jameson as Leela - it is available for pre-order from Big Finish.

More details have now been released on the forthcoming Big Finish audio series Counter Measures.

The series stars Simon Williams as Group Captain Gilmore, Pamela Salem as Rachel Jenson and Karen Gledhill as Allison Williams, all of which reprise their roles first introduced back in 1988's Doctor Who adventure Remembrance of the Daleks. The team are re-assembled into the new specialist organisation Counter Measures in order to investigate strange phenomena and dangerous new science.

Big Finish have released the cover art for their forthcoming Doctor Who: The Lost Stories - The Fourth Doctor Box Set.
To be released in January 2012, the six disc audio collection will feature two unmade stories from the 1970s, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Louise Jameson as Leela:

Guest cast includes Paul Wheeler, Louise Brearley, Blake Ritson, Dan Starkey, Anthony Howell and Jane Slavin.

As well as the two stories, the set will also include a 70 minutes behind-the-scenes documentary, plus additional extras.

Big Finish have announced that Cherie Lunghi will join Peter Davison for their forthcoming audio adventure, The Emerald Tiger. The actress joins the Fifth Doctor team of Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton and Mark Strickson for the story that opens a new mini-season in April 2012.

Big Finish have announced a new spin-off from Doctor Who based on characters from the Seventh Doctor adventure Remembrance of the Daleks: Counter-Measures will be a four-part series of hour-long episodes based around a new specialist group formed by the British Government in 1964 to investigate unexplained phenomena and dangerous new technology, leading on from the RAF Regiment's encounter with the Daleks some months beforehand.

The series will see all three lead actors reprising their roles from the original 1988 story, Simon Williams as Captain Gilmore, Pamela Salem as Rachel Jensen, and Karen Gledhill as Allison; the latter said of the new series:

The Counter-Measures team will be joined by Toby Kinsella, their liaison with Whitehall; the character is played by Hugh Ross. Alastair Mackenzie also features as Julian St Stephen, Allison’s boyfriend of five years, and other cast members include Vernon Dobtcheff, Adrian Lukis and Stephen Greif.
