Figures showing the Live+7 performance of the Doctor Who Christmas Special Last Christmas are now available.

The LIve+7 figure is calculated by the BBC to try to get an accurate estimate of the total unique audience for an episode of a programme. Unlike official BARB figures the Live+7 uses data to include those who watched one of the broadcast repeats of the episode and those who watched the episode on iPlayer all within 7 days of the original transmission.

Overall the episode had a audience of 9.62 million who watched either on the day of broadcast or within the following 7 days. Of that 6.29 million watched on Christmas Day, 0.53 million watched the repeat on BBC Three, 1.97 million watched a timeshifted recording while 0.83 million watched on iPlayer.

BBC Worldwide and Titan have announced a new UK based Doctor Who Comic will be launched later this month

The comic, featuring the Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors in every issue, will be available from 26th February with three on-going stories in the first issue, bringing to the UK the set of stories that have previously not been available in the country. Final figures now confirm that Doctor Who: Last Christmas finished as the 7th most watched programme on British Television for the Week.

The episode, which has 8.28 million watching, had a share of 31.6% of the total TV audience.

The Boxing Day repeat on BBC Three had a final audience of 0.48 million viewers, a share of 2% of the total audience. It had an AI of 84.

Doctor Who finished Christmas Day as the Sixth most watched programme on British television for the day.

Final figures, which include those who record the programme and watch within seven days, give Last Christmas a final rating of 8.28 million viewers. The rating is down from the 11.14 million achieved the previous year when The Time of the Doctor saw the departure of the Eleventh Doctor. Ratings across the board are down with no programme reaching ten million viewers in the whole Christmas week. Top of the list was Mrs Brown's Boys Christmas Special which had 9.7 million watching, down from 11.52 million last year.

The final figures don't include those watching on iPlayer where Doctor Who had 1.06 million requests during Christmas week. Overall it was the 9th most requested programme, losing the title of Most requested programme over Christmas, a title it has held since the iPlayer was introduced. Top Gear topped the list this year, airing the controversial episodes filmed in Patagonia.

Victoria Jaye, Head of TV Content for BBC iPlayer has posted a blog praising the success of the iPlayerDoctor Who's finished between 6th and 8th for the week. Final figures will be confirmed later in the week when full ITV HD and +1 figures are released.

8.28 million watched the UK transmission of Last Christmas according to consolidated figures available today, which include those recording the programme and watching within one week of transmission.

The final chart position should be available next week.

Doctor Who Last Christmas had an Audience Appreciation Index score of 82.

The Appreciation Index or AI is a measure of how much the audience enjoyed the programme. The score, out of a hundred, is compiled by a specially selected panel of around 5,000 people who go online and rate and comment on programmes.

The highest scoring programmes from Christmas Day were Call the Midwife and Downton Abbey.

The BBC Three repeat of Last Christmas had 0.42 million watching, a share of 1.9% of the total TV audience.

Doctor Who: Last Christmas was watched by 6.3 million viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Doctor Who was the seventh most watched programme of the day, with BBC One once again dominating Christmas night viewing. Mrs Brown's Boys which had 7.6 million watching, topped the list for the second year running, albeit with a much lower rating than last year.

Ratings across the board were down on previous years, last year The Time of the Doctor had 8.3 million watching. Final figures, released next week, which include those who record the programme for later viewing, should see Doctor Who move up the chart.

As we enter the last few days before Christmas Day, the battle over which show will top the overnight ratings continue apace. Out of ten bookmakers currently offering odds on the winning programme, Doctor Who is currently fifth-placed at 11/1; Mrs Browns Boys is the favourite at the time of writing at 6/5, followed by Eastenders at 5/2, Miranda at 4/1 and The Queen's Speech at 6/1.
