Doctor Who could make it on to the cover of the prestigious and long-running American weekly listings publication TV Guide for the first time.

The programme is among the 10 nominated shows for the magazine's third annual Fan Favorites Cover Poll, and whichever programme wins will feature on the cover of the edition for the week starting Monday 10th December.

Polling ends on Sunday 28th October at midnight Pacific Time, and people can vote as often as they want to, although they have to "Like" the publication on Facebook first.

The other programmes nominated by TV Guide are: Fringe, Grimm, Happy Endings, Parks And Recreation, Pretty Little Liars, Scandal, Spartacus, The Vampire Diaries, and The Walking Dead.

UK magazines have this week featured Doctor Who on their covers as the new series approaches.

SFX interviews Steven Moffat about the new series of Doctor Who and the 50th Anniversary.

TV Choice doesn't have the show as their cover but they have an interview with Matt Smith. He teases readers that "Perhaps there are some classic monsters coming back. There’s one I’m very intrigued by, which we haven’t seen for quite some time…". Asked if "we'll be seeing seeing a thing we haven’t seen for quite some time", Smith replied "Well, maybe. We might. A thing we haven’t seen since the series returned to our screens in 2005."

The latest edition of Cardiff Life has been retitled "Dalek Life" and features an 'Eternal' Dalek on the front cover. From pages 46 to 49 they review the new Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff Bay.

Doctor Who also has mentions in Total TV Guide and TV Times.

Doctor Who features on the cover of the new Radio Times - on sale from today - which celebrates the return of the programme this coming Saturday.

The magazine, issue dated 1st to 7th September, also features interviews with Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, and Matt Smith - in which he casts doubt on regenerating in the 50th-anniversary story - as well as an episode guide by Steven Moffat plus a Dalek wallchart.

Talking about new companion actress Jenna-Louise Coleman, Gillan says:
On the programme's 50th anniversary next year, Smith says: Asylum of the Daleks is on BBC One on Saturday at 7.20pm.

The Audit Bureau of Circulations have now released statistics relating to the distribution figures of magazines for the first half of 2012, which includes details relating to both official publications, Doctor Who Magazine (Panini) and Doctor Who Adventures (BBC).

When compared to previous periods, the data reveals how the average circulation trends have fared:


Whilst figures indicate a regular decline in readership since the boost thanks to Matt Smith's arrival in 2010, the last six months have shown a significant reduction with both magazines dipping to below their circulation prior to Smith's debut year. This trend might well indicate the impact of not having a regular series to tune into - in particular, Doctor Who Adventures, aimed for a younger readership, showed a loss of over a third of its readers! However, the imminent return of Doctor Who to our screens might well improve circulation for the latter half of the year, with those figures due out in February.

Doctor Who Magazine has announced that the next edition, due to be published on Thursday 23 August, will be delayed by at least a week. The delay is due to production problems which have meant the magazine has missed its allocated printing slot.

The delay has nothing to do with any potential launch date for the new series of Doctor Who, the date of which has still to be announced by the BBC.

The next Doctor Who Magazine Special Editon, Sarah Jane Smith – Volume 3, has also been delayed by a week and will now be published next Thursday 16 August.

Doctor Who has been granted the accolade of being the cover story of the US media magazine Entertainment Weekly.

The title, which has been running since 1990, is one of America's most popular entertainment magazines, with a circulation of 1.8 million and an estimated readership of 8.2 million. To make the cover is regarded as a major achievement, an honour unprecedented for a UK-made series, and something BBC America has been celebrating on its Facebook site.

Inside, it asks whether the time has finally come for the Time Lord to break big in America, and describes the upcoming season as maybe the most eagerly anticipated ever, as the Doctor prepares to say goodbye to his two trusty companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams.

The publication notes the number of on-screen shout-outs the show gets from programmes such as Community, Criminal Minds, Craig Ferguson's The Late Late Show, Supernatural, and Grey’s Anatomy.
