Torchwood Series 2 Air Date For Canada

The second series of Torchwood will begin airing in Canada on Friday, August 8 on the English-language speciality cable channel Space.

The news is revealed in a Toronto Star interview with John Barrowman by pop culture writer Malene Arpe and on Barrowman's official website, which says it is an exclusive deal.

Torchwood is co-produced by the CBC, which showed the first series, as did Ztele and HD Net Canada

John Barrowman in Canada

John Barrowman is in Canada this summer to serve as a judge on the Canadian version of the hit BBC series How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?. The series is being broadcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and premieres today Sunday June 15th at 8:00pm across the country and at 8:30pm in Newfoundland.

Shows in front of a live studio audience will begin in Toronto on Sunday June 22nd. Tickets to be in the live audience are available from the CBC Maria website.

On the morning of Monday June 16th Barrowman will be appearing live on Breakfast Television on CITY TV in Toronto. Barrowman is scheduled to be on the show between 7:00am and 8:00am.

Series Four in Canada

The Doctor Who Information Network has reported that Series Four of Doctor Who will debut on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on September 19th, 2008. The information comes from sources at the CBC.

Doctor Who will air on Friday evenings at 9pm. This was previously the time slot for Torchwood during the Autumn of 2007. The last two series of Doctor Who have aired on Monday nights at 8pm.

Sarah Jane Adventures coming to Canada

Canadian digital cable channel BBC Kids has announced that The Sarah Jane Adventureswill be coming to the channel in January 2008. The run starts with the premiere of the hour-long pilot "Invasion Of The Bane" on Sunday, January 13th at 9:00pm EST (repeated at 4:00am EST). Thereafter BBC Kids will run two episodes back-to-back every Sunday at 9:00pm EST with repeats at 4:00am EST.

Canada: Doctor Who pre-empted again this week

Doctor Who is being pre-empted again this week by theCanadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)due to the live broadcast of the 2007 Canadian Country Music Awards. The live broadcast from Regina, Saskatchewan would have affected the broadcast of Doctor Who across most of the country.

Doctor Who was also pre-empted in parts of Canada last week due to Labour Day CFL Football broadcasts in some timezones. Areas that were not affected by the live football saw a repeat of the episode Gridlock.

Doctor Who will return to the CBC on Monday September 17th with the episode Utopia.

Canada: CBC to make Series Three Available Online

The Doctor Who Blog is reporting that they have been informed by sources inside the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that the broadcaster will be posting Series Three ofDoctor Who online at their Doctor Who Website. Each episode will appear online the day after it airs onCBC Television, and will remain available for up to four weeks.

It is expected that the first three episodes should be posted on the site soon. The episodes are expected to be geofenced, and only be available to those connecting from Canadian ISPs.

In the interview, Agyeman discusses how she got the part and what effect being in Doctor Who has had. We also learn about jobs she has held as well as some of her favourite television series.

Canada: Runaway Bride Repeat

Doctor Who is pre-empted tonight due to the live broadcast of a U20 World Cup match on CBC in Canada. However in Alberta and British Columbia where the game will be over before Doctor Who's regular timeslot viewers will be treated to a repeat prime-time broadcast of The Runaway Bride. Viewers in the Mountain Time Zone will see the special from 8:30-10:00pm MDT and viewers in the Pacific Time Zone will see it from 8:00-9:30pm PDT.

New episodes will return to the full CBC network next week with Gridlock.

Canada: Doctor Who pre-empted July 2nd, Gridlock delayed one week

On Monday July 2nd Doctor Who will be pre-empted by the CBC.

The schedule change is due to the network-wide broadcast from Edmonton of a live match from the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The tournament is being hosted by Canada.

New Doctor Who will return on Monday July 9th with Gridlock.
