The BBC has released images from the colourised version of the second Doctor Who story, The Daleks, due to be screened on BBC Four on the 23rd of November 2023.

Originally broadcast as seven 25-minute episodes, the Terry Nation story has now been edited down to 75 minutes by Benjamin Cook and the result colourised. 

With brand new sound and a new score - created by Mark Ayres - The Daleks has been gloriously updated, whilst ensuring the original classic story remains as thrilling as it was when it was first seen back in 1963.

The colorised version will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and as a Steelbook next February. 

This DVD release also includes the original seven episodes in black & white, as they were first broadcast plus a 15-minute exclusive featurette and all special features from the previous release.

The BBC is to broadcast a colourised version of the second Doctor Who story, The Daleks, to mark the show's 60th Anniversary. 

As part of the celebrations, one of the show’s most renowned tales, the one that introduced the Daleks to the world, is to be screened on the 23rd of November, 60 years after Doctor Who began. 

Originally transmitted from December 1963 to February 1964, The Daleks soon became one of the Doctor’s most formidable and enduring foes. The story follows the very first crew of the TARDIS as they land in a petrified forest on an alien planet. Determined to explore, the Doctor (William Hartnell) leads his companions into the metal city, where they discover danger at every corner and what will become his deadliest enemy, the mutant Daleks.

These seven original 25-minute episodes have now received a makeover, having been colourised and weaved together into a 75-minute blockbuster to appeal to today’s modern audiences.

With brand new sound, a brand new score - created by Mark Ayres - The Daleks has been gloriously updated, whilst ensuring the original classic story remains as thrilling as it was when it began in 1963. And, whilst viewers can enjoy watching the colourised version of The Daleks when it arrives on 23rd November on BBC Four, it will also sit within The Whoniverse where viewers can also watch the seven-part story in its original form.

This special episode is one of the many highlights set to commemorate Doctor Who’s outstanding 60-year anniversary,– shortly before David Tennant takes back the reigns of the TARDIS for three highly anticipated specials.

The limited edition box set of Season 20 is to be released on the 18th of September 2023.

The latest release in the Doctor Who Collection series was announced in July but the release date has only just been confirmed. It features the six stories from the Fifth Doctor's second season as well as the twentieth Anniversary story The Five Doctors.

The BBC has confirmed that Season 20 of Doctor Who will be the next season released as a box set on Blu-ray.

The season, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, was originally broadcast in 1983. It will be released as a limited edition 9-disc box set, containing each story from season 20 as well as the 20th Anniversary story The Five Doctors. 

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the programme, these stories feature the return of old friends, enemies, and even past Doctors! Over seven stories, the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa (Sarah Sutton), Tegan (Janet Fielding) and Turlough (Mark Strickson) face off against the Black Guardian, Omega, the Mara, the Master, Cybermen and the Time Lords themselves!

BBC Studios have revealed that the next Blu-ray Doctor Who: The Collection will feature Season 2, the second season starring William Hartnell as the First Doctor.

Debuting later this year this collection is the biggest release yet and features a limited edition nine-disc box. 

Across a season of 37 episodes originally shown in 1964 and 1965,, the Doctor is joined by companions Susan (Carole Ann Ford), Ian (William Russell), Barbara (Jacqueline Hill), Vicki (Maureen O’Brien) and Steven (Peter Purves).

Together they face off against the dreaded Daleks, the marauding Mechonoids, the ant-like Zarbi and the meddling Monk, while visiting fantastic alien worlds and turbulent times in the Earth’s history.

The missing two episodes of The Crusade have been reconstructed using off-air photographs and the original broadcast soundtrack, while the remaining episodes have been newly remastered from the best available sources.

The BBC has announced that Season 22 of Doctor Who will be available on Blu-ray as the next box-set release.

Season 22 was the first full series starring the Sixth Doctor Colin Baker and companion Peri played by Nicola Bryant

The season saw them face off against a host of classic monsters and villains, including Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, Davros (Terry Molloy) and The Master (Anthony Ainley) – as well as introducing a new female nemesis The Rani (Kate O’Mara) and the villainous slug-like Sil (Nabil Shaban).

The BBC has announced that an animated version of the 1967 story The Abominable Snowmen will be released next year. 

The story stars Patrick Troughton, Jack Watling, Frazer Hines and Deborah Watling. Originally shown between  30th September 1967 - Saturday 4th November 1967. it was the second story of Season 5 and features the Doctor's first encounter with the Yeti and the Great Intelligence. 

Most of the six-part story is missing from the BBC Archives, with only episode two still existing. 

The release gives fans the opportunity to enjoy the six new fully animated presentations of this lost story, which will be released alongside the one surviving segment episode two.
