7.97 million watched the episode on a conventional TV set. However the BARB 4-Screen Dashboard shows that an additional 131,000 watched on their PC, 62,000 watched on a Tablet device and 51,000 watched on a smartphone These figures make Doctor Who the 4th most watched programme of the week ending 28th October.

Top for the week were the two editions of Strictly Come Dancing, with the Saturday show getting 11.47 million watching. Channel 4 once more took number 3 with The Great British Bake Off getting 9.50 million viewers.

On ITV Coronation Street managed to get 7.86 million watching and was fifth in the weekly chart.

Arachnids In The UK had an Appreciation Index score of 83.

Doctor Who: The Tsuranga Conundrum was watched by 6.12 million viewers, a share of 29.5% of the total TV audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The rating makes Doctor Who the second highest rated programme for the Sunday and the 6th for the week ending 4th November.

Sunday's ratings for all programmes were slightly down on last week, probably because of the large number of firework displays around the country marking Bonfire Night. Highest for the day was the Strictly Come Dancing - Results Show which had 8.83 million viewers, with the BBC Drama The Little Drummer Girl had 3.82 million.

ITV peaked with 4.12 million watching The X Factor while, against Doctor Who, The Chase: Celebrity Special had 3.74 million viewers.

Saturdays Strictly Come Dancing topped the week with 9.46 million, while Channel 4 achieved one of its best every ratings, coming third for the week with 7.51 million watching The Great British Bake Off. Monday's two editions of Coronation Street took 4th and 5th places.

Final figures should be released next Monday.

8.09 million watched the episode on a conventional TV set. However the BARB 4-Screen Dashboard shows that an additional 145,00 watched on their PC, 71,000 watched on a Tablet device and 63,000 watched on a smartphone These figures make Doctor Who the 4th most watched programme of the week ending 21st October.

The episode had an appreciation index score of 83

Top for the week was Saturday’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing with 11.49 million watching.

Doctor Who: Arachnids In The UK was watched by 6.43 million viewers, a share of 29.3% of the total TV audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The figure is slightly up on the previous weeks rating. Doctor Who was second for the eveining with Strictly Come Dancing - The Results taking top place for the day, and the week, with 9.14 million watching. The BBC Drama The Little Drummer Girl had 5.19 million watching.

ITV peaked with The X Factor Results with 4.2 million viewers. Against Doctor Who, The Chase: Celebrity Special had 3.83 million watching.

Doctor Who is currently the third highest rated programme for the week, behind the two editions of Strictly Come Dancing. Coronation Street is fourth with 6.41 million. Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off had 6.06 million viewers and is 6th for the week.

8.67 million watched the episode on a conventional TV set. However the BARB 4-Screen Dashboard shows that an additional 184,000 watched on their PC, 83,000 watched on a Tablet device and 64,000 watched on a smartphone These figures make Doctor Who the 4th most watched programme of the week ending 14th October.

Top for the week were the two editions of Strictly Come Dancing, with the Saturday show getting 12.03 million watching. Channel 4 had a rare entry into the top ten at number 3 with The Great British Bake Off getting 9.22 million viewers.

On ITV Coronation Street managed to get 8.0 million watching and was fifth in the weekly chart.

The Ghost Monument had an Appreciation Index score of 82, scoring higher with women than men and higher with those aged under 35.

Doctor Who: Rosa was watched by 6.39 million viewers, a share of 29.6% of the total TV audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Most programmes during the day scored lower than the previous week. Top for the day was Strictly Come Dancing - The Results with 8.65 million watching. Countryfile had 4.91 million viewers. The BBC drama THe Cry had 5.32 million watching. On ITV the highest rated programme was The X Factor - Results with 4.02 million viewers. Against Doctor Who, The Chase Celebrity Special had 3.27 million watching.

Although the ratings are down on the previous two weeks, they still make Doctor Who the fifth most-watched programme of the week, behind two episodes of Strictly Come Dancing, Monday's episode of Coronation Street and the Channel 4 game show The Great British Bake Off, which had 6.42 million watching. It beat every other edition of Coronation Street and EastEnders.

Official figures, which will be released next Monday, will include those who recorded the episode and watched it later. They are expected to be considerably higher than the initial figures.

The Woman Who Fell To Earth Tops Charts

Jodie Whittaker's debut as The Doctor had an audience of 10.5 million watching on a TV set. However official figures from the Broadcasting Research Audience Board show that an additional 234,000 watched on their PC, 110,000 watched on a Tablet device and 22,000 watched on a smartphone. These figures are now included in the official BARB 4-Screen Dashboard and make Doctor Who the most watched programme of the week ending 7th October.

Strictly Come Dancing took the next two places with a total of 10.88 million watching the Saturday edition and 9.90 million watching the Sunday results show. Channel 4 took 4th place with the ex BBC production The Great British Bake Off scoring 8.91 million.

The highest ITV show was Monday's Coronation Street with 7.80 million watching.

In its entire history Doctor Who has only topped the TV Rating chart for the week on four occasions, the last time was in 2013 for the 50th Anniversary special The Day of the Doctor.

Doctor Who's audience was split 49% male/51% Female, the reversal from the 2017 figures which had a small majority male audience. The episode had an Appreciation Index score of 83.The consolidated volume also makes Doctor Who the number one drama launch of the year so far. The series opener has also proved a big hit with 16-34 year olds, with 1.8million watching the first episode.

The final consolidated rating is the highest since Matt Smith's final episode as The Doctor, The Time of the Doctor, at Christmas 2013. It is the largest audience for the debut story of a Doctor ever, beating Rose in 2005 which had 10.81m watching and Tom Baker's debut story in 1974, Robot, which had 10.8 million viewers.

The figures, although down on the season premiere, is enough to make Doctor Who the third most watched programme of the week, behind two editions of Strictly Come Dancing. Strictly took top spot for Sunday with 9.2 million watching. The main Saturday edition got 10.6 million viewers as was the most watched programme of the week.

Just before Doctor Who, Countryfile had 4.94m watching, while later the drama The Cry managed 4.59m viewers.

It was a good night for Bradley Walsh who had 4.8 million watching The Chase: Celebrity Special on ITV, directly opposite his Doctor Who appearance. ITV's highest rated programme was The X-Factor with 5.1 million viewers.

The audience grew throughout the episode, peaking at 8.52 million for the final fifteen minutes.

The rating makes Doctor Who the third highest rating of the week, just behind two editions of Strictly Come Dancing.

It is the highest overnight rating for the series for a regular episode for over ten years. The debut episode of the Twelfth Doctor, Deep Breath, had an overnight rating of 6.8 million viewers, while the debut episode of The Eleventh Doctor, The Eleventh Hour, had 7.7 million, with 0.3 million also watching on BBC HD, making a total of 8.0 million. The last regular episode to top this figure was Journey's End in 2008, with an overnight figure of 9.4 million.

The highest rating for Sunday was for the results show of Strictly Come Dancing with an average of 9.04 million watching.

ITV's highest-rated programme was The X Factor, with 4.69 million watching. Against Doctor Who, 5 Gold Rings had 2.71 million watching.

Season 12 Blu-ray Enters Charts

Doctor Who Season 12 (Credit: BBC Worldwide)Doctor Who: The Collection – Season 12, the Blu-ray set of stories from Tom Baker's first series of Doctor Who, has entered the charts as the UK's second best selling Blu-ray for the week.

The Blu-ray features the first five stories of the fourth Doctor, including The Ark in Space and Genesis of the Daleks. The Doctor is accompanied by Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) and Harry Sullivan (Ian Marter) and was first broadcast between December 1974 and May 1975. The set included a new interview with Tom Baker as well as several brand new features.

The charts are compiled by Official Charts based on sales across the seven day period from 1st - 7th July 2018. Doctor Who was only beaten in sales by the Marvel Film Black Panther.
