Two items from the 1980s era of Doctor Who are to be auctioned at the Knightsbridge branch of Bonhams next month.

A moulded and painted foam baby Tyrannosaurus rex in a jar from the 1985 Colin Baker story The Mark of the Ranicarries an estimate of 600 to 800 pounds.

The lot originally came from the collection of the late producer John Nathan-Turner.

Also going under the hammer in the entertainment memorabilia sale on June 18 is a Dalek guard costume from thePeter Davison adventure Resurrection of the Daleks.

This particular lot has 'Rula Lenska' plus a measurement inscribed in ballpoint on the neck and comes with a moulded weapon plus background paperwork, including a copy of a note by Lenska, who played Styles in the 1984 story, and a signed photo (of whom is unclear but a good guess would be Lenska).

The estimate placed on the costume is 800 to 1,200 pounds.

Toby Hadoke's play Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarfopened in London's West End last night, and a successful performance was topped off by the news that the radio version of the production had been nominated in the Best Drama category of the prestigious Sony Awards.

Wednesday's opening night included Fenella Woolgar(Bright Young Things, Steven Moffat's Jekyll and soon to be Agatha Christie in the current series of Doctor Who, and seen right with Hadoke), Justin Edwards (Perrier Award nominee and star of BBC4's The Thick Of It) and Ian Boldsworth (a.k.a. comedian Ray Peacock, who also appeared in the Doctor Who episode Blink).

Hadoke's press release claims that Doctor Who luminaries Paul Cornell, Rob Shearman and Louise Jameson will also be attending to support the show during the run.

The remaining dates are 10th, 11th, 12th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th April (7.30pm start time, except 12th and 19th, when it's a 3.30pm start).

The BBC 7 Radio adaptation, also available as an audio book, is now in the running for a Sony Award, the radio equivalent of the Oscars and the highest accolade a radio production can receive. The awards themselves take place on May 12th.

This year's BBC Proms will feature a special Doctor Who evening on Sunday 27th July, presented by Freema Agyeman. The show is expected to feature compositions related to time and space, with such items as Holst'sThe Planets and Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries, as well as the Doctor Who theme tune.

The show will also include a special Doctor Who scene starring David Tennant, written by Russell T Davies.

After recent controversy in the news surrounding the relevance of the Proms to modern day Britain, director Roger Wright denied the presence of Doctor Who would mean the world-famous music festival was being dumbed down, reporting that the musical emphasis would still focus on the British Isles, with other compositions from Eastern Europe.

The concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and may also be broadcast as part of the Proms season on BBC2.

Glasgow is to host the UK's largest Doctor Who exhibition next year.

A report in The Herald says that the display, currently at Earls Court, will head north of the border to be installed at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in the city after its run in London ends.

According to the article, the exhibition will open in Scotland in March 2009 and run until early 2010. Organisers believe attendance figures will better the 165,000-plus total reached for a recent Kylie Minogue show.

The display is expected to include monsters and props, etc, from Series Four as well as items from the Christmas 2008 special.

The Earls Court exhibition closes on September 19.

This Saturday, Forbidden Planet will host a signing event for the latest Doctor Who novels from BBC Books. Trevor Baxendale, Simon Guerrier andJames Swallow will sign their respective novels Wishing Well, The Pirate Loopand Peacemaker at Forbidden Planet's London store (179 Shaftesbury Avenue) on Saturday, January 12 from 1 to 2 pm.

Toby Hadoke's acclaimed solo comedy Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf embarks on a major UK tour next month - including two weeks at the Arts Theatre in London's West End.

The show has had two Edinburgh fringe runs, went on tour in the UK last year and was adapted for BBC7. The BBC7 production was released on CD by BBC Audiobooks.

21-year-old Australian fan Dimitry Telfer won a piece of plastic celery worn in the series by Peter Davison - and autographed by the actor - in an eBay auction raising funds for Children in Need.

Telfer's winning bid was 5,500 pounds. The BBC put the signed celery stick up for auction in aid of the children's charity last week, with bidding starting at just 99p.

Dimity told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "I couldn't let an opportunity like that get away from me and it's for a great cause. I got into 'Doctor Who' in 2005 and I've been hooked. Peter Davison is my favourite."

Unofficial overnight figures show that the Children in Need Special, Time Crash, was the most watched programme on British Television on Friday.

Overall the Children in Need programme scored a rating of 9.4 millionviewers and was the most watched programme of the day.

The telethon peaked between 20:15 and 20:30, when the two Doctors special was shown, with 10.9 million viewers, a 45% share of the total television audience.

The programme won its time slot comprehensively, with the nearest opposition being The Thin Blue Line on ITV1, which scored 2.8 million against the Doctors.

When official figures are available, Time Crash could be the most watched segment of Doctor Who since the series returned in 2005. Rose achieved a rating of 10.8 million, but peaked at 11.3 million. Time Crash is also likely to beat EastEnders highest audience of the year, which currently stands at 11.0 million.

Around 2.5 million viewers watched the repeat of the segment at 00:45.

The telethon airs on BBC One starting at 7:00. TheRadio Times indicates that Time Crash will air between 8:00 and 8:30, but the Children in Need schedule is always fluid, so this may or may not be accurate.

"Time Crash" stars David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor. It is written by Steven Moffat and directed byGraeme Harper, who previously directed Peter Davison in his final Doctor Who story, The Caves of Androzani. The scene is expected to be between five and seven minutes long.

The BBC's Doctor Who website has announced that fans in the UK will be able to view "Time Crash" online for seven days after its broadcast, as well as a special Doctor Who Confidential featurette.

In addition to "Time Crash", the Children in Need telethon will include a singing appearance by John Barrowman, which is also scheduled by Radio Times in the 8:00-to-8:30 slot. Christmas special guest star Kylie Minogue will also be singing her new single, "2 Hearts", sometime during the evening's events.

On Thursday, Mark Shift of Clitheroe, Lancashire won a Children in Need auction for a day on the Doctor Who set. Shift entered the bidding for his five-year-old son Joshua (whom he describes as a "Doctor Who fanatic"), and won with a bid of 37,000 UK pounds. Shift is interviewed in The Clitheroe Advertiser, his local newspaper.
