The BBC have this evening released a second trailer for new series of Doctor Who.

This week sees the release of the penultimate Doctor Who: Tenth Doctor by Nick Abadzis and Rachael Stott with Leonardo Romero, and the finale of Doctor Who: Eleventh Doctor penned by Al Ewing and Rob Williams and art by Simon Fraser.

BBC Books have announced three new novels in the Doctor Who: Glamour Chronicles series, featuring the 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi.

The novels Royal Blood by Una McCormack, Big Bang Generation by Gary Russell, and Deep Time by Trevor Baxendale, are all released on Septmeber 10th

This Wednesday sees the release of three Doctor Who comics, featuring the Ninth, Tenth and Twelfth Doctors.

The Ninth Doctor, Jack and Rose are caught between a heavily-armed intergalactic standoff, while The Tenth and Twelfth Doctors are Earthbound, Stateside. The Tenth Doctor is challenged with protecting New York city from an ominous looming pyramid and the Twelfth Doctor and Clara take on a toxic mix of mobsters and invading aliens in 60's Vegas!

The last week has seen the cast of Doctor Who visiting Berlin, in a country where the show has grown in popularity for the last few years. Here is a news update on current and upcoming developments in Germany:

• FOX announced that Series 9 will premiere in December, almost three months after the UK. This is a departure from the near simulcast broadcasts from recent years. Last year, problems with the BBC's delivery of the material needed to dub Series 8 in time, resulted in near simulcast airings of the episodes in English with German subtitles.

• Books publisher Cross Cult announced the release of a monthly e-books series called Zeitreisen (Time Trips). Book 1 Die Todesgrube ("The Death Pit") by A.L. Kennedy will be released on 26th October 2015. It can be pre-ordered at Amazon Germany.
  More upcoming printed titles include the eighth Doctor novels Silhouette by Justin Richard on 24th August 2015 and Der Kriechende Terror ("The Crawling Terror") by Mike Tucker on 8th February 2016. November will see the release of the novelisation of City of Death, written by James Goss, with the German title Die Stadt des Todes.

• German online audio books platform Audible has announced the release of Gareth Robert's Shada novelisation. It will be unabridged and read by Michael Schwarzmaier, who dubbed Tom Baker in the German versions of The Five Doctors and in Day of the Doctor. The audio book can be pre-ordered on Amazon Germany.

• The first German convention for fans of Doctor Who, the TimeLash Event, has now sold out. Guests include Paul McGann, Nicholas Briggs, Catrin Stewart, Nicola Bryant, Terry Molloy, Toby Hadoke, Nev Fountain, Terrance Dicks, Andrew Cartmel and many more. It takes place in Kassel on the 24th to 25th October 2015.

• DVD distributer Pandastorm Pictures has released a trailer for the upcoming German DVD boxed set of Die Fünf Doktoren (20th anniversary special The Five Doctors). The 3-disc-set will contain the 90 minute TV-version, the three-parter that was shown in Germany in 1995 and the 100 minute special edition. The set will be released on 28th August 2015. Titan Comics have announced that they will publish a brand-new miniseries featuring The Eighth Doctor, as played by Paul McGann.

The series will hit comic stores ​October 28​ and will be penned by writer George Mann (New York Times-bestselling Doctor Who novel Engines of War!) with art by Emma Vieceli (Breaks, Alex Rider: Scorpia, Dead Boy Detectives, Vampire Academy, Manga Shakespeare)​.​

Issue #1 comes with four covers to collect: a special art cover by Alice X. Zhang; ​a ​photo cover; art cover by Warren Pleece and a ​b​lank ​s​ketch variant.

BBC One has confirmed Doctor Who will be back on UK screens on Saturday 19th Sepetember

The news was announced via the channel's twitter feed, along with the release of the first trailer for the upcoming series. BBC America has confirmed that Series 9, the 35th Season of Doctor Who, will also première in the United States on the same day.



The news was announced at San Diego Comic-Con where the stars of the show were appearing along with the Doctor Who lead Writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat.
Having been filming in Cardiff since January, Peter Capaldi said:
Previously announced and taking up a guest role in the new season will be Maisie Williams, having already achieved global success for her role as Arya Stark in the fantasy drama series Game of Thrones. Michelle Gomez (Missy) returns to plague the Doctor and Clara in the season opener, and UNIT are back with Jemma Redgrave and Ingrid Oliver (Osgood) returning to season nine following their popular entrance in season eight. Also confirmed as guest cast in the new series are Rebecca Front, Rufus Hound, Paul Kaye, Joivan Wade and Sophie Stone.


The show’s ninth season has been written by lead writer Steven Moffat, Toby Whithouse, Jamie Mathieson, Peter Harness, Mark Gatiss, and new writers to Doctor Who - Sarah Dollard and Catherine Tregenna; directed by Hettie Macdonald, Daniel O’Hara, Ed Bazalgette, Daniel Nettheim, Justin Molotnikov, Rachel Talalay; and produced by Tracie Simpson, Derek Ritchie, Nikki Wilson and Peter Bennett.

The team continue to shoot in Roath Lock studios, Cardiff Bay, Wales, having filmed in Tenerife, and South Wales locations, Caerwent, Caerphilly Castle, Cardiff Castle, St Athans and Margam Park.

More details on the incorporation of the Doctor Who Universe into the new world of Lego Dimensions, along with a preview video, have been revealed at the San Diego Comic Con currently being held in California.



As revealed earlier this week Peter Capaldi will be voicing the Twelfth Doctor in the game, due to be released on 27th September. He will be joined in the game by Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez playing Clara and Missy respectively. The game pits characters from Doctor Who up against characters from other franchises including Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, Scooby-Doo and The Simpsons.

The basic LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack will include a Doctor Who level featuring Daleks and Cybermen alongside other monsters from the series. The Doctor Who Level pack add-on will include a LEGO minifigure of the 12th Doctor, LEGO models of the TARDIS and K-9 (both playable), and an additional mission-based Doctor Who level. The Doctor will regenerate through all his incarnations if he is defeated, with the TARDIS interior changing to match. A jukebox in the TARDIS offers your choice of Doctor Who theme music, and the TARDIS and K-9 models can each be physically built and then rebuilt twice “to do entirely different things”.

Peter Capaldi has given an interview to GameSpot where he talks about his excitement at seeing the game series brought to life. LEGO Dimensions will be available for Xbox One, the all-in one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation4 and PlayStation3 computer entertainment systems and the Wii U system from Nintendo.

Wednesday, July 8th sees the release of Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #14 by Al Ewing, Rob Williams and art by Simon Fraser.
