Video Game Coming

As reported on David-Tennant.comTop Trumps have revealed their plans for a Doctor Who video game to be released in time for Christmas 2007. An advert for the game appears in the new Doctor Who Top Trumps card pack. No definite information is available at this time regarding which gaming platforms will be required. We will report more details as we receive them.

WETA Collectibles Information

This week at the San Diego Comic Convention, Weta Collectibles revealed the prototypes of the initial two pieces that will start their Doctor Who statue range.

The first piece, titled 'Dalek', is from the Doctor Who episode of the same name, featured in the new series in 2005. The second piece, titled 'Cybercontroller', is from the Age of Steel episode from the second series in 2006.

Two more statues are forthcoming, but have not yet been revealed. For more information and images of the Dalek and Cybercontroller statues, see Weta's website.

The New Zealand based firm Weta have announced the release of a series ofDoctor Who Collectibles as part of their Weta Collectibles series.

The line will incorporate key moments Doctor Who. The initial series will consist of four pieces, all of which capture a nostalgic scene from the series. Each piece will be made at 6th scale, be free standing, and made out of high quality polystone.

Weta Limited Manager Jamie Wilson said "Doctor Who is such an iconic series, with a huge following all over the world. We have chosen memorable moments from the series that capture the power, emotion and transformed them into dynamic collectible pieces. "

Selected pieces will be on display at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con from 25 - 29 July. The official images of the pieces will be revealed the following day, on 26 July.

WETA Collectibles Goes Behind the Sofa...

Radio Times Poster Offer

This week's Radio Times features a large double-sided panoramic poster offer. One side features the Doctor, Martha and Jack inside the Tardis, and the other side has a rogues' gallery of recent enemies, including the Angels, Dalek Sec and its mutant hybrid, Scarecrows and the Judoon. The poster measures 124 x 45cm, and is available with two tokens and a fee for postage. The first token is in this weeks issue, the second in next weeks.

Also in Radio Times this week, an interview with Torchwood star John Barrowman on returning to Doctor Who. Click on the spoiler tag to read an extract.
"It's not the Captain Jack from Torchwood. He's not angsty, he's not moody; he's determined, but in a different way. Captain Jack from Doctor Who is a little more light-hearted, because he’s back where he wants to be. Although he loves the Torchwood team, one of his main objectives over the past couple of years has been to find the Doctor, to figure out why Jack is the way he is. Now he's there, he can let the Doctor take the responsibility for everything and he can sit in the background a bit."

We understand that the Sea Devil costume that was to be auctioned at Bonhams later this month, as reported by Outpost Gallifrey on May 27, has now been withdrawn from sale.

Sea Devil Costume To Be Auctioned

A complete Sea Devil costume is to be auctioned at Bonhams next month.

The auctioneers say it is believed to be the only existing outfit from the 1972 Jon Pertwee story.

It is listed as being complete with string vest, belt and a replica weapon, and comes with a letter of provenance. An estimate of 8,000 to 10,000 pounds has been placed on the lot.

The auction will take place on June 20 at Bonhams' Knightsbridge saleroom as part of a film and rock 'n' roll memorabilia sale.

Outpost Gallifrey reported on Friday that The Sea Devils is to be released on DVD.

DW Toys Bump Up Profits

Doctor Who toys have helped the Character Group post a 122 per cent jump in profits.

Pre-tax profits rose to 6.3 million pounds in the six months to February 28, up from nearly three million pounds last year, part of which was down to the demand for its "highly successful" Doctor Who toy range.

It said it also expected to benefit from strong interest in its forthcoming Dalek Sec voice-changing helmet, after the success of the Cyberman voice-changing helmet last year, as well as toys from The Sarah Jane Adventures, which is due to air in the autumn, according to the Press Association.

Also reported at Telegraph.co.uk, which states that the new voice-changer will be of Dalek Sec Hybrid.

TARDIS tops all-time gadgets

The TARDIS has been voted the all-time best gadget by UK schoolchildren, ahead of the laptop, iPod and 007's jet pack. The nationwide survey was made by a supermarket chain to promote their computers for schools scheme.
