Sarah Jane breaks records

Official figures released by BARB show that the Monday 1730 CBBC showing of The Sarah Jane Adventures has broken records for the digital channel.

The second part of Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? is the highest rated programme to have been shown on CBBC since its launch, with an official audience of633,000 viewers.

In the list of top rated programmes on cbbc this year, The Sarah Jane Adventures holds the first six positions, with the 7th position being taken by MI High, with 388,000 viewers.

Figures for the final two episodes of this series will be available over the next two weeks.

Unofficial overnight figures for week nine of The Sarah Jane Adventures show that part one of The Lost Boy was watched by 1.3 millionviewers.

This was the highest rating of the series since the premier and gave the programme a 9.5%share of the total TV audience.

The Appreciation Index for this episode was 84.

On the digital channel CBBC, the conclusion of the story had 0.35 million viewers, an15.7% share of all children watching.

Unofficial overnight figures for week eight of The Sarah Jane Adventures show that part two of Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? was watched by 1.1 million viewers, an8.5% share of the total TV audience.

The programme out-rated the ITV1 opposition Chris Tarrant's Great Pretender which got 1.0 million during the period the programmes overlapped.

The Appreciation Index for this programme was 85, once more putting the programme into the excellent category. It got a higher AI figure than any other programme on BBC1 on Monday.

On the digital channel CBBC, the first part of the new story The Lost Boy had 0.29 million viewers, an 13.6% share of all children watching.

Unofficial overnight figures for week seven of The Sarah Jane Adventures show that the first part of Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?was watched by 1.2 million viewers, an 9.6% share of the total TV audience.

The Appreciation index for this episode was once again 85 putting it in the excellent category once more.

On the digital channel CBBC, the second part of the story had 0.38 millionviewers, an 18% share of all children watching. This digital audience was a big increase on the previous week's figures.

Overnight ratings for week six of The Sarah Jane Adventures show that the second part of Warriors of Kudlak, was watched by 1.2 millionviewers, an 9.6% share of the total TV audience. This is an increase over last weeks figures and is an incredibly good audience for Children's BBC.

The programme achived an Appreciation Index of 85. Once again this puts the programme in the excellent category and makes it one of the most appreciated programmes on British television. The Appreciation Index, or AI, is a measure of how much the audience liked the programme. It is a score out of 100, based on responses from a carefully selected panel. The average score for drama on BBC1 and ITV1 is 77. A score in excess of 85 is regarded as excellent while a score below 60 is poor.

On the digital channel CBBC, the first part of Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? had 0.23 million viewers, a11.7% share of all children watching.

Overnight ratings for week five of The Sarah Jane Adventures the episode Warriors of Kudlak , show that the episode was watched by1.0 million viewers, an 8.4% share of the total TV audience. The sample was too low to produce an AI figure, although this is normal for this timeslot.

Over on CBBC, the second part of Warriors of Kudlak had 0.234 millionviewers, a 13.6% share of all children watching.

Sladen to sign SJA audios

As previously reported on this page, on Saturday, October 27Elisabeth Sladen will be signing the new Sarah Jane Adventuresaudiobooks at Borders on Oxford Street in London. The two audiobooks,The Glittering Storm by Stephen Cole and The Thirteenth Stone byJustin Richards, will be available at the event a week before they become available for general purchase in stores and via digital download (on November 5). Sladen will be signing copies of the audiobooks from 2 to 4 pm at Borders, 203-207 Oxford Street, London W1.

Ratings for The Sarah Jane Adventures continue to hold up, with unofficial overnight figures showing that episode four was watched by1.0 million viewers, a 9.2% share of the total TV audience. The AI figure for this episode was 85, the highest so far for the series and putting the programme in the excellent category.

Over on CBBC, episode five was up on last week's figures, with 0.289 million viewers, a 3.7% share of all children watching.

In an interview with Elisabeth Sladen conducted by LastBroadcastthis week, she was asked on whether a second series of Sarah Jane Adventures will appear.

The article also mentions an up-and-coming signing event with the actress for the release of the original audio adventures The Glittering Storm andThe Thirteenth Stone, which will take place at the Oxford Street Borders bookstore on Saturday 27th October (2-4pm).

Is there going to be a second series of The Sarah Jane adventures?
I know that they're writing it and planning it, yes, but as always with these things they've not had the green light yet, but it all looks very hopeful I think. They seem pleased with how it's done, it's such a clever format.

The Sydney Sun-Herald reports that the Australian Broadcasting Corporation will screen The Sarah Jane Adventures sometime next year. The ABC, which also broadcasts Doctor Who, is yet to confirm that it will be screening the spinoff programme.
