Next week's edition of the Radio Times features Peter Capaldi as the Doctor on its front cover as the magazine looks at the two-part series finale which starts this Saturday with Dark Water at 8:15pm on BBC One.

Famous fans, TV critics, children, and personalities share their thoughts on the latest incarnation, as played by Capaldi, including Professor Brian Cox, writer Armando Iannucci, singer/songwriter Marc Almond, Keeley Hawes, and even a former Doctor in the form of Tom Baker, who said:

In addition, the digital version of the magazine includes a 30 page Monster supplement, featuring pictures of the Doctor’s greatest foes from the Radio Times archive.


The Radio Times, covering television and radio programming for 1st-7th November, is available online and in shops now.

A meeting is being held this Saturday in Vancouver, Canada to gauge the interest in having a convention in the area in late 2015. Who Party West III in 1990 was the last time a Doctor Who convention was held in Vancouver and organisers from that event have come together again to try and kick-start a new convention for fans. German DVD distributer Polyband is going to release Die Zeit des Doktors (Time of the Doctor) on DVD and Blu-Ray on 22nd December 2014. Additionally to the Christmas Special from last year, the disc will include over 100 minutes of special features.

Polyband orginally held back from releasing the Special after its german broadcast on FOX last year. They repeatedly stated on their Facebook page that they were planning to include it on the upcoming Series 8 boxed set. However, due to unforeseen problems with the German dub of Series 8, they had to pull back the release date of the boxed set and change their schedule accordingly.

Doctor Who - Die Zeit des Doktors can be pre-ordered from Amazon Germany on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Doctor Who has won a British Academy Cymru Award for its special effects.

The effects team collected the award for Best Special, Visual Effects and Graphics on Sunday in a ceremony at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.

The Doctor Who Sound Team lost out in race for Best Sound, which went to Cardiff Singer of The World

The Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to Television went to Nerys Hughes who played Todd in the classic Doctor Who story Kinda.

Doctor Who In The Forest Of The Night had an Audience Appreciation Index or AI score of 83.

The Appreciation Index or AI is a measure of how much the audience enjoyed the programme. The score, out of a hundred, is compiled by a specially selected panel of around 5,000 people who go online and rate and comment on programmes.

With Sunday's overnight figures now available, Doctor Who was the 26th most watched programme of the week. Final figures will be released next week.

The Sunday repeat of In The Forest Of The Night on BBC Three had an overnight estimate of 0.15 million viewers, a 0.6% share of the audience.

6.71 million watched the UK transmission of Flatline according to consolidated figures available today, which include those recording the programme and watching within one week of transmission.

The figure is over 2 million higher than the initial overnight figure. The final chart position should be available later in the week.

5.03 million viewers watched Doctor Who: In The Forest Of The Night, a share of 21.6% of the total TV audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Doctor Who was third for the day, reversing last weeks position with Pointless Celebrities which had 4.74 million and came in fourth for the day. Top was Strictly Come Dancing, which had 9.42 million viewers, a substantial lead over its rival The X Factor which had 7.34 million.

Doctor Who is currently 20th for the week, with Sunday's ratings still to come. Final figures will be available next Sunday.
