National Television Awards

Voting has now opened for the National Television Awards 2005, sponsored by ITV, with Doctor Who listed for Most Popular Drama Series, Christopher Eccleston nominated (alongside Peter Davison in Distant Shores) as Most Popular Actor, and Billie Piper as Most Popular Actress. Honorable mention here too for Dead Ringers' nomination in the Most Popular Comedy category. These awards are voted for by the public and are a simple popularity poll, rather than an industry award akin to the BAFTAs. UK readers can vote at the NTA 2005 website before 29 July; the awards will be given out later in the year.
